I'd mostly agree with that assessment, with a couple of exceptions. JWP, KWP, ABK and Lavia are decent PL standard players and would almost certainly leave. You can probably add Salisu to that because of his contract situation and Aribo looks like he might have enough about him to get pinched. I disagree on Adams, if we went down it'd probably be following a pretty disappointing season on his behalf, I doubt he'd have PL teams kicking down his front door. Overall, I think you could make a fairly decent Championship team out of: Bazunu Livramento Stephens Bednarek Perraud Tella Diallo ????? Armstrong Adams Armstrong

The PL record for most goals in a season is jointly held by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer on 34. Even with a mid-season WC, Haaland will eclipse that in mid January at his current scoring rate.

I know people love a good 9-0 prediction but we’ve generally defended much better this season, with ABK. In fact since his debut against Leeds, Everton was the first time we’ve conceded more than one goal and that was largely the ‘keeper’s fault. I think they’ll probably get four or five but that’s basically a par score for a club like us against City.

If they can push all the way down the West Bank of the Dnepr, that’s a huge chunk of Sovie… sorry, Russian troops they’re going to cut off from behind. It’s likely we’ll see more panicked retreats, like we saw from Lyman.

Here’s a question; at what point (and I’m not saying it’s now) do we start talking about Haaland as the greatest PL striker of all time?

The only reason we're having this conversation is because Lavia is injured AND AMN has started much worse/slower than we'd hoped. Without both of those two things happening simultaneously, nobody gives the tiniest sh*t about selling Romeu. It's just unfortunate timing, if in three weeks both his replacements are fit and in form it becomes a moot point. Our transfer strategy was to replace an under-performing 31 year old with a talented Man City teenager and a 25 year old with 132 Arsenal apps. There's nothing wrong with that, this is just Boufal syndrome - His rating goes shooting up when he's not in the team.

I would not be in the least bit surprised if somebody has a plan to do just that. I think we can all guess who that somebody might be.

Romeu was crap in the last third of last season, I’ve no idea why people are wishing he was still here. Whether AMN turns out to be any better in the long term remains to be seen.

No, not in the slightest. They've been awful and I've no doubt at all that there are better managers out there, just like there are better strikers than Che Adams, better 'keepers than Baz and better midfielders than AMN. If we've lined up a better manager then I'm fine with that but all this talk of him being an obvious lead weight, holding back players capable of far higher achievements is erroneous IMO. I've just been reading the match thread where you yourself said it might be worth trying a 41 year old 'keeper who was basically retired a year ago.

I'm more than happy to focus on this season, it's everyone else saying things like: If you want to talk about the last 60 points, then you have to look at who was available for 36 of the last 60 points. Otherwise it's 7 from 24. Where does wisdom come into it? All the money we've spent this summer would cover the transfer fees of Wood and Bruno, that's not even taking into account the fact that they'd both sneer at our pathetic wage offer.

Because people keep referencing last season in their assessment of how we're playing. If you're going to do that, you have to look at those players objectively. I'd say they all played as well as they ever have under Ralph. Not one player has left and proven him wrong by being a breath of fresh air at a new club, like Tadic. They've all either signed for clubs well below our level, or signed for clubs around our level and under-performed.

Who said solely? Newcastle spent over £100m on transfer fees in January and Howe is a much better manager than Bruce, what's your point?
