  1. If decent FFP rules were in place 10 years ago we wouldn't have ended up in administration in the first place. It's true we spent beyond our means to get out of League 1 but we should never have been there at all. Where Saints went wrong was 2 years before administration when Mike Wilde was still running the show. We lost our parachute payments but instead of cutting the wage bill we spent large amounts of money we didn't have on wages for Stern Jhon, Jason Euell, Greg Vignal, Marek Saganowski, Wayne Thomas, Andrew Davies and Useless Safri. Had Football League rules prevented us from offering those wages, we'd have ended up a fairly stable Championship club.
  2. Or you could do that, I wont argue that's a bad idea. They've got the right idea with that but it needs to be applied universally across all leagues. There should also be a rule whereby a single, be it a sponsor or just a sugar daddy, cannot invest more than a certain percentage of a clubs income. That way people can still invest if they think they can make a profit in a higher league but they can't throw silly money at a club to get them into the Prem.
  3. Which would be impractical to put into place as both teams would have to agree a deal before every live TV game. It's partly why I think having games available on PPV at a fixed price would be a good idea. It would bring revenue to all teams across the PL and FL but the more popular games would still get more subscribers. For example fewer people would watch a dull bottom half PL game like Villa against Stoke but they might watch a top of the table clash between two decent League 1 or Championship teams.
  4. Your point being?
  5. If you funnel money down to lower leagues, all that will happen is a general wage increase across the board. What would be best for football IMO would be a restriction on what percentage of income could be spent on wages. Supposing it was something like 60% it should ensure everyone lives within their means. I'm sure there are laws against it and ways around it though.
  6. That's infeasible, you cant obligate a club to build bigger stadiums. It just wouldn't work, you are basically telling clubs they have to fork out tens of millions on stadium expansion which won't actually bring them extra income. As MLG pointed out, it's not fair to ask any business to subsidise it's rivals. It would be like telling Apple that Nokia are losing money because they build inferior products, so they have to hand over a load of cash to help them compete.
  7. Good point, I forgot they were still in the cup. In that case, 3 match bans all round and a 0-0 draw please. I wouldn't wish injury on most humans beings but if Kane and Eriksen were out for a while, that would be handy.
  8. The three Amigos are on the bench for tonight's 2-1 defeat to Spurs. Chambers is absent from Arsenal's squad, Shaw is suspended for tomorrows game. Any Liverpool suspensions from tonight's game will lead to them missing their game at St Mary's on 22nd.
  9. Whereas you've never said anything utterly ludicrous.
  10. Just thinking out loud here but what if every game was broadcast live, pay per view on a game by game basis. Supposing it was £20 per game and the clubs involved got £15 of that, split 50/50. I think it has some advantages, like making football a lot more accessible to long distance and elderly fans. I think it would also allow some clubs to build new grounds with lower capacity but better atmosphere. Obviously building smaller stadiums is cheaper but the clubs wouldn't lose out on lost income if games were still on TV. Might help lower league clubs to compete a but better.
  11. If only the victim had seen this
  12. "She’ll be worried about how she appears to the players. That will be her concern more than anything, she wants to protect them" So basically just hangs our with a bunch of footballers, sucking them off in the gents and she is worried they wont respect her if they see this video.
  13. Best result for us IMO. 4 points dropped by our rivals instead of just 3. I think a win Wednesday would put us out of reach of the hammers, baring an awful collapse in form, with them then being 11 points behind us.
  14. What if he mysteriously gets another one on Wednesday evening? I've known this to happen.
  15. We are f**king off. Just in the wrong direction.
  16. Turned them in to Wigan basically. Mirallas and Lukaku have performed far below their best this season and Barkley isn't old enough to carry that team yet. With Jagielka and Barry getting older things are going to get worse before they get better at the back too.
  17. Hope Lucas misses the game against us with that knock, he's a handy player. Can't imagine we will see either of our old boys on the field, if Liverpool use their third sub it will probably be Markovic. Maybe Johnson if they're winning.
  18. It was disallowed for offside. That's what the ref was indicating as Forster was screaming in his face (an incident for which he was rightly booked, I have no idea why he was that angry)
  19. Got to feel a bit for the fans who paid £45 to get in and left early to avoid the traffic.
  20. Far from our best and still won. Get in! If we'd beaten Swansea we'd be a point behind City on equal GD
  21. Agree, I don't see how a player can 'get away' when he was never here. I'm sure we enquired about dosens of players we didn't sign in summer and indeed every window.
  22. Would like my tits off if he walked out on them for one of the big Spanish clubs in summer.
  23. We were also talking about a swap deal with Andros Townsend. Things like this are easy to say in hindsight. I should have bet my life savings on a Bradford/Boro double in the FA Cup and a Saints win at Old Trafford etc.
  24. 2 minutes early and it wasn't Eriksen. A new tactic at Spurs.
  25. Mane and Elia against Hill and Dunne could be entertaining.
