What's the point in dropping players in order to avoid a ban? If we leave him out of 2 games anyway, what do we achieve? We aren't good enough to go leaving out our best players against anyone. We got mugged off at home Swansea, we'll look a right bunch of Muppets if we go leaving out our best players and lose to Burnley.

To be fair Lambert, Lallana and Lovren weren't great at playing on the bench last season. In fact they ended up starting most games, so Rogers has added that dimension to their game.

Burnley come to St Marys, fresh off the back of a win against Man City. However that was only their second win since beating Saints at Turf Moor in December and the Clarets have only won once on the road all season (at Stoke). Incidentally, Burnley's last points away from home came in a 1-1 draw at Chelsea. I'm not sure on the team. On the one hand I want to stick with Long up front. On the other, Burnley are likely to sit far deeper than Chelsea did and Long would have a lot less space to run in to.

We thumped Everton without both of them so it's not the end of the world if they do miss a couple of games.

I'm going to trust the maths and hope for a draw. 4 points dropped by our rivals instead of just 3 for a defeat. If we assume it's going to be a Liverpool Arsenal Cup final, I don't think it makes much difference if we finish 5th or 7th. 2-0 now. Utd win is exactly what we don't need.
