Well, we need to add Stoke to the OP now I suppose. Should probably either add Fulham or remove West Ham too, probably the former as things stand but 1 more win each should keep them up.

There is more to life than this. I'm just saying.

We were brilliant all over the pitch today, thoroughly deserved result. I can't really remember either Davis or Boruc having to make a save, other than one badly defended corner which went in. Other than that Jos had Torres in his pocket the whole game and Yoshi cleaned up everything else. Voted Jrod MOTM but there were half a dosen viable candidates today. We're nearly safe people, I'm starting to believe! I thought we'd lose to Liverpool and Chelsea and still stay up. Now we're 12th with arguably the easiest run in in the bottom half. Pretty sure we will lose at Spuds and Swansea is never a nice place to go. Other than that we have games against 5 of the worst form teams in the league at the moment.

Today's points took us above the 32 points we achieved last time out in the Prem. Back then 34 points and a GD of -25 kept West Brom up. All fairly trivial really, you will need a bit more than 34 this year. With Wigan and Villa suddenly turning up I think 37/38 will be around the cut off.
-
I'd pretty much go along with that. If you're after some HCDAJFU: 1. Yevhen Khacheridi 2. Andriy Yarmolenko 3. Don't think Frazer is that bad personally. 4. Figueroa, if Wigan went down maybe. 5. Matej Vydra ticks all the boxes.

Well you did email it to me Tokes. For those of you who haven't met Calvin, he is pretty much.

I've always imagined Turkish as being and Bearsy as slightly more If I didn't know Justice Mike, I'd have said. Tokyo Spudgun

If only we could have found a winner at Norwich. We'd have 2 extra points, be above West Ham and therefore guaranteed safety already. FWIW I still think it's QPR, Reading and Villa going down.

I am also an old differ. Apparently. I didn't rate him in his first season in the Championship at all. He looked like he had some tallent but was very poor when it came to delivering it on the pitch. I'd have said in his first season he was barely any better than players like Romain Gasmi and (World Class) Ryan Smith. They also appeared to have some tallent but delivered very little on the pitch. I'd just like to point out, however, that I haven't gone awfully quiet. I've just changed my opinion now that Morgan has developped into a much much better player than he was then. I'm sure many people are the same and there's nothing wrong with that.

It's all dependant on how much someone is willing to spend. There is no set value for our players, just look at Andy Carroll. I'd have said he was a decent £10-15m striker during his time at Newcastle in the Premier League but Liverpool come along and pay triple that. I think it would take a bid of over £15m to get Shaw or Morgan off our hands. Probably at least £10m for Cork, Gaston, Clyne, JRod and Lallana. You can argue they aren't worth that but I couldn't see us selling for less than. Why? Because they are young, important players and we don't need to sell them.
-
I think we should all be grateful he was so crap in his first season. If he had been half decent someone would have offered us £500k for him and we'd have bitten their hands off. Same as we had to with DMG and Surman. Yes that's right, people were willing to pay £1m for DMG but nobody wanted Morgan. He really was poor in his first season here. Those stats for this season are great, we will do well to hang on to him even if we stay up.

I think Bruno Senna might disagree with you there. Ralf Schumacher was a little bit more fortunate http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAvVOAB-ZJg Montoya and his engineer get a bit lost in translation. Whereas if he had hit the deer

Should be going to this one. Last 2 games I went to were QPR and Sunderland at home. Sorry everyone.
-
I reckon 2 wins, 3 draws and just about safe on 40 points. After the results against Man City, Liverpool and QPR though I've given up predicting which games they will come in. At a guess, we will beat WBA and Stoke, draw with Wham, Reading and Sunderland. Lose the rest.
-
I really can't make a case for Reading staying up. their 3 most winnable games are home games against us, Liverpool and QPR. Even winning all 3 won't come close to keeping them up. It would get them barely above the drop zone even on today's table.

Been skiing in the Alps, managed to find a bar showing the game on Setanta and saw the last 30 minutes. When JRod scored about 6 of us all went mental and the Scouse fans were saying, "sh*t where have all these Saints fans come from," loved it. Come on Man U and Newcastle!
-
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Will be odd flying 7 hours accross the globe and meeting up with some Saints fans in a bar. Look forward to it.

Well why not let his current deal run until 2014 then offer him a coaching contract? We'll be giving Butterfield a new 2 year deal next. This kind of sentimentality has got us in trouble before. In 2005 we went down refusing to admit Dodd, Le Saux, Telfer and Claus were old and well past it. Then in 2007 we nearly did the same again with the likes of Powell, Makin and Claus (again). I know Kelvin on his own isn't a problem but it does snooker our GK options for next season a bit. Assuming we want to 'keep Boruc and Gazza, we pretty much have to stay as we are. There just isn't the room on the wage bill to bring in a Butland-a-like to push for the #1 Jersey. We just have to hope Gazza comes good.

I'm heading over there in a couple of weeks on business but I reckon I will have about 4 days to myself so was looking for people's recomendations on things worth doing. So far I can think of: - Wild Wadi water park - Standing next to tall buildings going, "F**k me innit big!" - A look around the Mall of the Emirates. (Will give the skiing a miss, that's taken care of elsewhere) - The beach. Obviously. - Water sports. Any good places to go in particular. - Bars and restaurants. Where are the best? Any other suggestions would be welcome too, although Phil I don't play golf before you cream you knickers. Incidentally if any local Saints want to meet up, I'm buying the beers (not in the Burj Hotel though). Should be out there, when I'm not working, 20th until 24th March.

Seems I am one of the few people not happy with this news. A 3 year contract for a player I hope never to see play for us again. Nothing against the guy but he is a liability at this level and at 36 I doubt he will be getting much better any time soon. Can only assume there is a player/coach element to this contract. Hopefully he can teach our young 'keepers a bit more than flapping at crosses, palming shots into the centre of the 6 yard box and being beaten at his near post by a shot from absolutely any distance. Don't get the 'reward for his loyalty' bit either. Is being paid £500,000 a year to play football really that bad? Other than an offer to sit on the bench at West Ham has he actually had any decent offers away from Saints? I wouldn't mind so much but we are essentially paying for this new contract with our ticket office booking fees and car parking charges.

A lot of people saying it will cost more than £6m to replace Lambert. Sooner or later we will have to replace Lambert and it is going to cost more than £6m. If we sell him now we might get around £6m from the right bidder. In a year he will be 32 and probably worth half that. In 3 years he will be 34 and I doubt anyone will be willing to pay a transfer fee for him. A replacement in his early 20s will probably cost £10-15m, whether it's now, next year or in 3 years. As I said I'd keep him because I doubt we need the money. However if that money was the difference between getting in someone like Lukaku and not, I would be more tempted to sell. Lambert may be key to how we play at the moment but there are also 15 other teams doing better than us without him. He is good and will be remembered as a legend but he is not irreplaceable.
