Did anyone watch A Touch of Cloth on Sky 1 tonight, I thought it was hilarious. If you're into your Airplane and Naked Gun style puns, one liners and subtle visual gags you will probably like it. I think Episode 2 is on tomorrow.

Centre Back, an option that hasn't been considered.
Lighthouse replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
He could be used as cover if we had 4 centre halves and 3 of them got injured. However I don't think anything less than 2 new signings would be sensible. I don't count Seaborne, he is completely unproven and could turn out to be another Davenport. Your thinking is a little bit Burley IMHO. -
Gazza Frazer - Fonte - Seaborne - Shaw Chaplow - JWP - Lallana De Ridder - Rodriguez - Puncheon

Our whole game was just slow and predictable. Lallana's shot which got tipped onto the bar was about as close as we got. Lambert and Guly both had a good effort on target but they were from too far out and will very rarely beat a Premier League keeper. Rodriguez wasn't the only player playing in an awkward position. None of the three central midfielders took a hold of the game and dictated play. That's supposed to be the point of having three in the middle, you run the midfield, but we didn't. Lambert had three Wigan defenders around him most of the time and no Saints players within 20 yards. You need proper wide players for this formation to work too. People who can run at the full backs, stretch the play and make space in the middle for Lambert and the three central midfielders. Neither Guly nor Rod fit the bill at all. One paced, predictable and never tried to get to the line. I'd go with Lallana and De Ridder out wide based on our current selection. De Ridder has his faults but he would at least run at them and stretch the opposition a bit. Tell me I'm wrong and SDR is crap if you want but doing what we did today isn't going to get us anywhere. Having said that I'm still upbeat. We've got the talent in the squad, a good manager and a chairman with ambition and money to back it up. We will come good in the end. Up the Saints!!!!

They're supposed to be playing Southend, I'm guessing someone just got mixed up and stuck the wrong team on the fixtures list. No idea how it made it's way on to our OS though.

No thanks. He's 60 years old and even the skates don't want him.
-
Can we just call him Kayak? Much easier.
-
So we've got Tadanari Lee from Hiroshima and now we're after this bloke from Nagasaki. Any other nuclear Saints out there? Edit: Lets get this fellar in http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/smalko/profil/spieler_58137.html

Portuguese surely, although it is similar to Italian so they may be able to string a conversation together.

You don't become a Swiss billionaire being trigger happy with your cheque book.

Listening to it now, nothing new really. Bologna wanting €10m by the end of the year, Saints wanting to spread payment over 3 years. Deal has stalled at the moment. Bologna need money. His personal feeling is Bologna will find it hard to reject that much money.

$$$$$$$$$ I'm a loose canon, I don't play by the rules.

€I€I€IO Up the football league we go...
-
Why are we spending £12m on a violinist? There must be cheaper options out there.
-
If Jay Rodriguez is Jrod, do we call this guy Gram?
-
Bummer. Oh well, clearly Cortese has decided it's not worth paying whatever Bologna are demanding. It's disappointing but I trust his judgement on these matters. Better this than chucking silly money at players Pompey '08 style.
-
Neither. It just means whatever has been going on isn't in the public domain.
-
We've already shelled out around £10m on players so far. Ram would take it to about £25m, Phillips £31m, two CBs maybe £40m, a LB £45m? That is a lot of money to be paying out before the season has even begun. It's like buying your first house, you don't walk into an estate agents with £200,000 in a briefcase. We are probably trying to spread some of the payments out so they coincide with TV payments and gate revenue.
-
What? I was talking about SAINTS buying policy, not the Italian ecconomy. You are right though.
-
I agree. I'd much rather we just signed Ram and a CB than 5 Mikel Nilssons.
-
I think Adkins got it spot on actually, given the players available. Rod and JWP are both young and full of energy, more likely to cope with the pace of the Premier League. Lambert made much more of an impact against tired legs than he would have at the start and I doubt Davis had 90 minutes in him either. We were also much more like to hang on to our lead or draw with experience players on the pitch at the end. It didn't work out this time but we came mighty close.
-
Or if not I'd imagine is on it like a hobo on a ham sandwich already. Don't know how the paperwork works for work permit applications but I'm sure we've got the ball rolling already.

4-1 would keep us out the drop zone on goals scored (above Liverpool).

Saints obviously not in actions but there are plenty of other games to watch. Hoping for an Arsenal loss and a draw between Newcastle and Spuds in the late kick off as they will be our closest rivals for the Champions League places. Today's fixtures: Arsenal - Sunderland Fulham - Norwich QPR - Swansea Reading - Stoke West Brom - Liverpool Wham - Villa Newcastle - Spuds (17.30 KO) For those who still crave a bit of football league action, Pompey's new team of all-stars take on Bompey at Fratton. What's will you be hoping for?
