Udders are too good. They will win their 2 home games and draw at Brighton I reckon.

Sportland Arena, Tallinn.

South Coast Club. A reference to The Sun's infantile anti-Cortese campaign for those who don't remember.

Umm.... okay.

It will be criminal if we get anything other than a comfortable win. Have to say I'm nervous as heck about this now. I think it's the hope that kills me. So so close... The best I can do by way of assuring myself is thinking we only need to win our 2 home games and draw our 2 away games to go up (I'm assuming (perhaps wrongly) Udders wont win at Brighton). Udders have a home banker against Daggers, so we need to keep up with them. I'd be pretty cheesed off if we were to end up behind them again, even in spite of games in hand and fixtures left.

Quick reality check for the 'give him another year' brigade; Connolly will be 34 when next season kicks off and hasn't looked like being fit for 4 years. If he gets fit, he could be a decent asset. If he grow a foot taller, he could be a decent aerial threat. If he grows a pair of tits, he could be a decent page 3 girl. How about a player who actually IS fit?

We can afford 1 more f**k up in our remaining games. Udders can't afford any. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, but personally if Saints were 3 points ahead of Udders, who had 2 games in hand against fairly easy looking opposition, I'd be bricking it. I'd take our possition by a gnats nads.

Massive long weekend. With tonights fixtures we've effectively got 3 games in 4 days. 'Win' them all and we could be promoted by 5pm on Monday. Entirely dependant on Daggers winning at Udders, so a bit of a long shot that one. Now THAT is optimism.

Who is more important Lallana or Chamberlain
Lighthouse replied to alki_in_korea's topic in The Saints
I think the "most skilled player since Le Tissier" brigade need a bit of a reality check. Since Le Tiss we've had the likes of Fernandes, Anders, Camara, Belmadi, Walcott, Bale, Skacel, Idiakez, Rasiak, John and probably half a dosen others who've all looked very good on the ball. I'm not saying all those players are better, but they've all done it at a higher level than League 1. Lets wait until Lallana is tearing through Everton, Villa and Spuds in the Prem before we start getting carried away. -
And the Germans And the Spannish And the Brazilians And the Americans And the Taiwanese And the Aussies And the Canadians And probably every other country in the world if I actually bothered to do some research.

It's not him, the ear lobes are different.

This thread reminded me of Vignal scoring from nigh-on the halfway line against Leicester a few years ago. In League 1 Lambert away to MK Dons last season was hit from a good 40 yards out.

I've done that. They asked me to call another number tomorrow. The only official time scale I've found is "up to 2 weeks" which isn't much use.

Had a phone call from my new insurance company (flux direct) a few days ago telling me they needed a copy of my paper liscence or they'd cancel my policy. After an extensive search of mine and my parents flat it hasn't turned up so I'll need a new one. I've checked the DVLA website, but can't seem to find any info on the time it will take to get a replacement. Anyone done this who can tell me how long it too?

We should be going to Brighton all guns blazing for a win. I think the main reason they are so formidable at home is because teams know they are. They go there expecting to get battered, park the bus in front of the goal and play for a draw. Brighton are top of the league because they became experts and breaking teams down and grinding out scrappy 1 goal wins. Looking back through their results, they've only really battered Plymouth at home in the last couple of months. The rest have been narrow 1/2 goal wins.

Is it just me who thinks AOC is only included because of the hype? Don't get me wrong, I rate him and I'm sure he has a massive future, but based on what he's doing right here and now, this season, I'm sure there are better candidates. He has put in a few very average performances in the second half of the year. Davis... well if he really is the best in League 1, then there must be some shocking 'keepers out there. I don't want to slag him off, I'm just saying. He has had a fair few clangers this year. Glad to see Harding getting recognised, although I have to say I'm surprised as he was arguably better last year and missed out to Dickson. Fonte and Lallana were absolute shoe-ins in my book.

I think Jenson may have given Ferrari an idea. Next time they need to get Alonso past someone, they wait until their pit stop, then call Massa in to park in the other guys pit stop. Awesome race though.

For some reason this reminds me of Tonton Moukoko from early versions of Championship Manager.

Connolly has I think one league goal in a year and a half. He's not fit and he wont bring anything to the team that Barny, Forte, Guly and Lambert don't already have between them.

Just back. Very brief summary then bed... Appaling away day. Took 7 hours to get there, no time for pub, got beat, no goals, home at 0230. Terrible first half. No composure, no determination, no interest in playing football at all. First goal dreadful. Should have been a free kick for a foul on Barnard, but that doesn't excuse our defending. Looping header going high accross the face of goal. Davis just stood there like a lemon. I thought 'oh it must be going comfortably high or wide of the goal' as he made no attempt at all to get to it. Next thing I know it's in the feckin' net. Second goal, Harding out of possition and they get a free shot from 10 yards outside the box. I thought, 'that's no problem from out there' and then for the first time EVER in the history of his whole career, Kelvin is beaten by a fairly mediocre effort low at his near post. He did make one great save, but then made one kamakazi charge out in to no mans land and got nowhere near winning the ball. Second half we improved for about 20 minutes, then seemed to lose all interest. Forte looked better when he came on. Probably our best player IMO. His runs were some of the better aspects of our play. Hammond and Stephens were passengers throughout and Guly is a f**king liability away from home. He doesn't track back, he doesn't work hard enough and he gives the ball away too often. We can't have that in the side away from home and expect to win against decent sides like Rochdale. Looks like he's trying to tackle himself half the time. We had 2 'Get out of jail free' cards with those games in hand. We've used one, I feel we may use another at the Withdean. Squeaky bum time indeed.

'Large Hard-on collider' is a great title for a porno. Might copyright that.

To get 15 points and still drop goal difference we'd need 5 wins and 2 defeats. Our goal difference would go up by at least 5 with the wins, so we'd then have to lose the other 2 games 6-0. Highly unlikely.
-
It's a complete dead heat for me between Fonte, Lallana and Barnard. A defender, midfielder and a striker. Just shows how good we've been accross the park. I really can't pick a winner. They all have different roles, but have all been consistently excellent at what they do. Jaidi, Davis, Hammond and Lambert have all been good in patches, but thrown in a few stinkers too.
-
What would you rather have - 2 games in hand or 0 additional points?
Lighthouse replied to Deano6's topic in The Saints
Well, the 0 points would be a lot cheaper as fans, with less risk of a heart attack, so I'll take that.
