  1. Ostlund for Clyne Hurlock for Big Vic Barry Venison for anyone else in our current line-up. Serious you mean....O.K. The 2 Pauls, Williams and Telfer. Oh alright... Niemi for Boruc. Not that Boruc is bad, just Niemi is THE best keeper we've ever had in my opinion Pahars for JRod. Again, no disrespect to Jay, but Pahars would tear open most teams we've played this year Has to be Le Tiss for JWP. Bally got it spot on, you build the team around him and he will do wonders for you. The best player the Premiership has ever seen I reckon. Would also think about, and only think mind, about swapping our current left side for Bridgey and CMFG. My goodness, this does just highlight how good our current first 11 really are.

I will admit that the life span is slightly off (though that is what was quoted from the film), but is much longer in the wild than in captivity. This from Wiki, everyone's favourite source: Females breed until age 40, meaning on average they raise five offspring. The lifespans of wild females average 50 years, with a maximum of 80–90 years.[75] Males sexually mature at the age of 15, but do not typically reproduce until age 21. Wild males live around 29 years on average, with a maximum of 50–60 years.[75] One male, known as Old Tom, was reportedly spotted every winter between the 1840s and 1930 off New South Wales, Australia. This would have made him up to 90 years old. The separation that was highlighted in the film was due to the Killer Whale becoming disruptive in shows and training, which Seaworld believed to be due to the calf. The footage of the Killer Whale not swimming around and essentially 'screaming' (using long range calls to search for it's offspring) does not sound like a parent that has rejected it's baby.

Also worth pointing out that SeaWorld were asked to be involved and put forward all of the points raised in post #2. They could've mentioned all the good they do, but they refused to speak to the film makers.

I rented this out a couple of weeks ago after Empire gave it a rave review. Have to say that anyone thinking of going to a park that has captive Whales and Dolphins should really watch this before going. It is a very distressing film and I'm not talking about the employee deaths either. These are obviously highly intelligent and emotive creatures that are basically in prison and they get extremely fristrated being in captivity. The separating of mother and calves is deeply upsetting when you see the impact this has on both of the creatures, these animals normally live to be up to 100 (only 25-30 in captivity) and live in complex family units that stick together through thick and thin. I'm sure the film makers had an agenda when they put this together, much like every Michael Moore film, but this does not detract from what is an exceptional film that is both informative about Killer Whales in general and the impact being in captivity has on them. I would also recommend The Cove, a similar film about Dolphin capture in Japan. This is also a deeply shocking film about humans treatment of animals.
  5. Watched Blackfish on Blu-ray last night. Thoroughly absorbing and compelling film about the capativity of Killer Whales in water parks like Seaworld. Extremely distressing but anyone thinking of going to places where killer whales and dolphins are kept should really watch this first.
  6. Am I in another dimension or something? Saints 3rd in the Premier League after 11 games? Not even the most positive of supporters could have predicted this honestly. I only got to see the final 20 minutes via the stream posted in the match thread (Thanks to whoever that was) and I do not remember seeing such a fluid and technically gifted Saints team. The one touch passing in possession was stunning and the collective defending from the front when Hull had the ball was brilliant to see. I don't get to St Marys much these days due to cost but am planning on seeing the Stoke match in February and absolutely cannot wait to be in Southampton again and at St Marys. Many fans of other clubs hope for their team to rise up the ranks and climb as we have. For Saints to do it and in such a short space of time is truly astounding and I'm enjoying every blinkin' second of it!
  7. Wow! and Wow again. Speechless! Great news for the players for the hard work and getting the recognition but also to the club and everyone involved with the progression of this great clubs of ours. Well Done!
  8. Saw Turisas at Nottingham Rock City a few weeks ago - class as ever. Got a load of gigs coming up in the next couple of months - Hardcore Superstar and Buckcherry in Coventry, Michael Monroe at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham, In Extremo (Medieval German Metal....yes!) at the Islington O2 and Poizon Christmas Bash, again at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham. 2013 has been a great year for gigs!
  9. Current albums that we're listening to are Turisas - Turisas2013 and Michael Monroe - Horns and Halos
  10. I suspect if KD does play, he might have another 'Leeds Away' game....well, I hope he does!
  11. Firefly is not about the stories or plot at all. It is completely the character interaction, the snappy dialogue and the relationships that develop in many interesting ways. Everytime we re-watch it it is like coming back to a family that you've really missed. Since watching that show, everything else that we see the Firefly cast in is immediately improved, e.g. Castle, Sarah Conner Chronicles, The 4400, as you miss them so much from Firefly. I would even recommend Dollhouse, another Joss Wheadon show, though it takes some time to get into.
  12. Thought series 7 of Dexter was pretty interesting as what I thought they were going to do (drag out the reveal in series 6) they actually did in one episode and then moved along at a fair old pace. I would agree that Dexter does get weaker though still has enough about it in the later series' to enjoy. Not see the final series yet though. How could I forget about Game of Thrones. Brilliant. And if you've not seen it and are partial to a bit of Sci-Fi, Firefly, whilst only 14 episodes long is amazing. One of the best TV series ever made and it is a travesty that it got cancelled so early.
  13. Saints win - absolutely no doubt about it.
  14. Battlestar Galactica (both versions, though I will concede that the new one is better T.V), Big Bang Theory, Castle though if I had to pick out of the 2 you've listed - Dexter, without a shadow of a doubt. Didn't finish Prison Break, it got a bit dull. Though the 1st series is very good. If you've not got it, LoveFilm Instant is great for T.V series. They've got most of Dexter available currently.
  15. norwaysaint, like colinjb said, the back catalogue for the PS3 is excellent and affordable now. You can pick up most pre-owned games for around £5 and can get hours and hours of gamplay in. I've only had my PS3 for 2 years and it is by far the best console I've ever had. It is also good for free music videos (Vidzone) and streaming wirelessly things like LoveFilm and iPlayer, if you do not have a Smart TV. Games like Fallout3, Red Dead Revolver, Bioshock and Dead Space will see the time gaming fly by. For shorter game periods you can try Fifa and Burnout, both of which are great pick up and play options. I've yet to try Skyrym and GTA V, I'll wait until the price drops on both, but in the meantime I've got Dead Space 2, Far Cry 2 and Bioshock 2 waiting to play. The PS3 is a great piece of kit and I personally would recommend it completely.
  16. I have to disagree completely. I live in Nottingham (itself a wonderful city) but always look forward to spending time in Southampton. I guess it is what you are looking for ultimately. We always enjoy Southampton as it has Firehouse, The Hobbit and The Dungeon and though I've not been for a few years, it has one of the best alternative nightlife's in the country. Obviously there is then watching the Saints and the town hall art gallery which last time we were there, was very very good. I love visiting Southampton, it has everything I could ever need for a long weekend. In fact, February is scheduled for our next long overdue trip and I'm already looking forward to it - Arrive Friday late afternoon, head out for a curry, onto Firehouse for a night of Metal, Saturday sees a trip to Goblets for a burger and then after a few pints, head to the stadium for the match. Then Saturday evening sees a trip to the Hobbit and the Dungeon (maybe with Chinese chips between) and then a late night special kebab on the walk back to the hotel. Pretty much a perfect Fri\Sat for me.
  17. I just like rainbows, nothing more, nothing less! ;-)
  18. Manly beach is worth popping over to on the ferry. Gives you good views of both the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The botanical gardens are worth wandering round and being at near dusk to see the fruit bats flying around - they are huge! Apart from that, there wasn't that much to actually do in Sydney, was just nice to wander round the various areas, soaking up the atmosphere.
  19. Star Trek Into Darkness or Rickie's Full England debut? Star Trek Into Darkness or Rickie's Full England debut? Star Trek Into Darkness or Rickie's Full England debut? Star Trek Into Darkness or Rickie's Full England debut? Hmmmmm, think it might have to be Rickie's full debut!
  20. Just wanted to echo the sentiments of everyone that this is a well deserved call-up. Thoroughly chuffed for Rickie and it has come as a complete shock, though as many have already said, it shouldn't have been and should've been much earlier. I really hope he has the game of his life and does himself and the club proud. Would watch this if at home but shall be away in Austria in a little tent on Wednesday so doubt we'll get to see the match, but you never know.
  21. Always play as Saints, and have done through the years on most generations of computers and consoles. Currently only have FIFA 12 (which I dusted off yesterday and lost 2 games online playing as Saints) on PS3. Getting a bit sick of having to play with our under strength Championship side though. Might have to upgrade with FIFA 14. We shall see.
  22. Wow! I don't think there has ever been a game that ambitious. If it works, this could well be the best game ever made. I've not even played GTA IV yet either.
  23. Oh, and our camera of course. If we did another trip, we would also take a tablet of some sort (for blogging offline and posting when connected plus reading online books) and a dedicated Kindle. We found that books took up the most space in our back-packs so would invest in some technology next time.
  24. Apologies for the late delay in coming back to you on this. Forgot about the thread. We had one just for our valuables. It was just lucky that it fitted in my travel bag perfectly. We used it for the MP3 player, speaker, passports, money and credit cards. Anything else could be easily replaced while on the trip. Our trip took in SE Asia, Aus, NZ, Fiji, Central America and finally a few of the Southern States of America.
  25. Went to the cinema last night to see Man of Steel - Orange Wednesday offer - £9 for 2 adult tickets for over 2hrs entertainment. To see Saints play - over £30 each for 2 hrs worth of entertainment.....if you are lucky. I would love to travel down to Southampton to see Saints play a lot more but put against other forms of entertainment the value just does not stack up. Am hoping to get down for the Swansea game and possibly to a couple of Midlands away games (hoping for Notts County and Forest in the cups) but that is it. Anyone else think that football is moving towards a breaking point on ticket prices where more people are going to stay away than go?
