  1. Matt Le Tiss, football genius, but I doubt he's that bright otherwise, just joined the wrong group - what does it matter, you don't really have to love everything about your heroes do you?
  2. So he spoke the truth then. Mugged again.
  3. Wasn't Lambert in midfield yesterday? Saga was the only one really forward, but he spent most of the time facing or playing the wrong way. We only pressed Yeovil back when Waigo came on and started running into space and being available for the through ball.
  4. So much better than anything else we've got - immediately pushed play upfield where it should have been in the previous 70 minutes. Not proved himself yet, but bags of potential and the ability to run into space and make room for Lambert, who spent most of his time in midfield
  5. Ponderous performance, Lallana and James were so slow, Saganowski going backwards all the time. Papa Waigo showed he's a cut above the rest of our strong hard working but fairly talentless team. Just look at the stats 3 shots on target to their nine. Without the penalties we would still be without a win. It can only get better, because as soon as we had a decent striker on running into space, the rest of it picked up. On a bad day we just look like a bunch of Wottons!
  6. Sounded dreadful on Solent - how long before we win? how long before we create some decent chances? decent movement?? better be ready for Yeovil or I'll want my money back before we kick off!
  7. will we ever win again?
  8. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/sep/09/bournemouth?gusrc=rss&feed=football Claridge's thoughts on Pitman - sounds like a good pairing for Lambert if Saga is not available
  9. There are no restrictions so ideal for us cheapskates who are prepared to moderate their language - it is the Chapel anyway, so not exactly the most vibrant atmosphere and there was bags of spce at the Millwall game.
  10. Neither of them ought to be a first choice, but given the current squad they can offer something different according to how physical the opposition is. I can imagine plenty of games where it will help to have someone bigger than Gillett sitting in front of the defence until a really commanding CB comes in, and other games where it will be useful to have someone who at least tries to play people in.
  11. Looks like he could create chances and do something different, but also looks very awkward on the ball, gets it under his feet and very prone to being caught in possession. Very difficult to justify giving him a start if we have 2 up front. Might be OK coming off the bech away from home.
  12. Strachan wouldn't be able to function without disrupting the current set up. Keep the costs down and build the scouting network for Pardew, rather than recruiting'old boys'

    Saga

He worked hard but struggled to make the impact you would expect of an international striker in league 1
  14. Who was the old chief scout that lived in the Canaries and never found anyone?
  15. The one genuinely exciting player we've had in years - I think we still have a while to wait before the next one

Pardew prefers 4-5-1 hence Rasiak up front to start yesterday?
  17. Overhyped like a lot of the academy - the ones that are going to be any good are usually outstanding, and he certainly wasn't one of those. McGoldrick looked absolutely brilliant, so did Bale - but Crtichell and co were way off ever making the 1st team
  18. Seems like a good deal for old and new ST holders and will encourage more kids, which will be good for the future, Chapel End will become horribly shrill, but better than deathly silence
  19. 10 mill (even 5) on League 1 players = total waste of money. Hopefully the new guys will be smarter than that. It's the whole management set up that's important.
  20. More than fulfilled his responsibilities, he carried us through the years of decline and extended our stay in the top flight - but no more statues, memories are far better
  21. Grazer AK went into admin 2007, bankrupt in 2008 and kicked out of league. Now a regional side owned by Liebherr - didn't get promoted last year. They had a decent enough past, playing in the former Arnold Schwarzenegger stadium, with Emmanual Pogatetz amongst others
  22. Back-to -back league titles, record home gate of 51,000+ and more FA Cup Final appearances - we have a long way to go before we are the senior club in terms of history and reputation. Just let's get back to being a decent team and stop worrying about crappy statues and what the Skates are doing
  23. I don't know what anyone expects of pre-season friendlies. 1st half was a 1st team side on paper, but just hoofed it around. 2nd half was abunch of youngsters. Either way it's July, there will be comings and goings (with a bit of luck) before we start, and League 1 sides and probably most CCC ones play crap football. We've got a long way to get back to 1984.
  24. Armstrong goal in 3-2 win over Man U - absolutely great set up and slow waltz through the area to put it away
