I wish I could share the same “blessing in disguise” optimism you think relegation will bring to this club. This is how I see it going: investment will pull out despite what Ankersen has pledged, the turgid football we’ve been churning out for the past couple of seasons will continue, we won’t do a Burnley, we’ll scrape mid-table as it’ll take too long to adjust to the league… The two transfer windows we’ve had with Sports Republic have been a disaster. How bad will be it in the Championship? The only way out of this is breaking the bank for a good, proven manager who wants it. Selles won’t bring us up, Potter won’t even entertain the idea, Viera is too good for the Championship… Weirdly, NJ could’ve been a very good solution… if we hired him next season.

Can we sack Selles?
-
It would be so sweet if Villa finished above Newcastle.
-
The board should have listened to me!
-
I think he’ll keep them up.
-
He’ll probably do it when we are mathematically relegated and the pressure is off everyone.
-
Don’t worry, guys. Ankersen told the fans’ forum we’d have cash in the Championship. You couldn’t make it up.

Leicester in for Dean Smith until the end of the season. Could it work?
-
I’m not looking forward to it. The feel good factor of the initial drive to the Premier League has long gone. The football is going to be terrible and I think fans are going to be in for a rude awakening. We aren’t going to do a Burnley unless SR pull a good manager out of the bag, which is unlikely.

The sickener is we up our game against teams when it should be a free hit, not against our direct rivals. We deserve to go down on that basis alone.
-
Go in 0-0 and Selles’s subs will be crucial.
-
It will be interesting to see Wilcox in his role next season. It’ll likely be in the Championship but could he be the figure we need to bring stability back to the club?
-
Paul Onuachu going to be a revelation in the run in and keep us up.
-
That’s one win in five now for Selles. Relegation form in a relegation dog fight. He’s been given the job full time on the premise he keeps us up. He won’t be here next season in any capacity. He’s too proud to become an assistant again, and who can blame him? I think we will struggle in the Championship next season with this team and fear it’ll be a few years until we’re back in the PL. Unfortunately I have little hope in this board making the right appointment for us. Unless they totally blindside us with an appointment like Brendan Rodgers (it’ll never happen but it’s the type of boost we need to get this club on track again). Lavia and JWP will go, which are big blows. I can’t see other clubs coming in for the rest.

Our fans booing Ings already. Hat-trick incoming.
-
Yes, fair enough. Perhaps I should have said replacing him with NJ is the reason why we are going down. However I’m adamant he would have got more points than NJ did through our run of favourable fixtures. Now we are stuck with a run of difficult games while the teams around us have better run ins. Fulham were always going to roll over for Bournemouth today. Forest beat a dreadful Wolves side we couldn’t beat while Palace did the right thing in appointing Hodgson to see them through the rest of the season. All we’ve done is made poor decision after poor decision.

The results today don’t matter. The damage was done the day we sacked Ralph.
-
One of Marshall’s own goals came off his arse.
-
Marian Pahars and Micky Evans have to be in the running. Without their goals, who knows what sort of club we’d be now.
-
Our best shirt of the second Prem era, IMO.
-
I was right again.
-
He was my pick for us after NJ was sacked. Look through my posts. He’ll sort Palace.
-
Selles, just go gung ho. Play Orsic, play Edozie. Just attack. Forget the “principles”, they don’t work. Fans will forgive if there’s fight, otherwise we face an apathetic Championship season ahead, and I fear even more.

Saints Go Wilder.
