  1. You think this team will be sorted by getting rid of those and replacing them with youngsters? Have you seen how terrible we were against lower league opposition this season? We need an ethos change.
  2. I posted this on Sunday. Far too predictable unfortunately. We are so easy to play against, it’s unreal. I think that’s it now. I’ve resigned myself we are heading for the drop. Those who think it’s a good opportunity for us to clear out the deadwood to bounce back up again are going to be in for a reality check.
  3. I said 2-0 Brentford in the build up thread so I’m not really surprised.
  4. I think Walcott has been pretty transformative in the way we now play under Selles.
  5. Brentford have been a bit of a bogey side for us in the past three years. I can see us stumbling again on Wednesday. 2-0 loss.
  6. Three clean sheets in four games now.
  7. Our famous 6-3 win against United came the very next match after they were thumped 5-0 by Newcastle. And that was a great escape season…
  8. Our fixtures are pretty bleak on paper over the next few weeks. Makes the ineptitude of NJ’s reign even worse.
  9. Quite. Bazunu is 20 and some of the abuse he gets on here is just outrageous. I agree he’s looked out of his depth at times but this is a keeper in his first full PL season for a team that’s struggling. The pressure must be immense. Even a young Casillas would struggle in this team. Bazunu doesn’t have the luxury of playing with World Class defenders. I believe Bednarek was the cause of the Leeds goal and that would’ve been three clean sheets on the bounce for him taking last night’s win into account. This experience should only make him stronger. I’m looking forward to his improvement next season, whether it’s in the Prem or the Championship.
  10. Ha Merson over exaggerating there then!
  11. Shane Long record gone?
  12. I think Edozie’s confidence hasn’t recovered since that miss against Lincoln.
  13. There are a few results that stand out in my time as a Saints fan that were particularly painful. The defeat to Stockport in the second leg of the Coca Cola Cup and the 4-3 capitulation to Tranmere in the FA Cup. They were painful because they seemed so freak. Although we were one of the PL’s strugglers when Stockport knocked us out, it felt unlucky. The effort was there, it could have gone either way and we should have put it to bed in the first leg. Tranmere was just unbelievable as we were so dominant in the first half. However, the only word I can think of for this defeat to Grimsby is shameful. No guts, no passion, no will to win. They felt inferior to a team three leagues below. And fair play to Grimsby for capitalising on it. I’m sure I’ll look back on this as an overreaction but this Saints side is not a team to me. They will go down with barely a whimper and I fear most of us won’t really care.
  14. This is shameful.
  15. I don’t think I’ve seen a Saints team this inept as an attacking threat.
  16. Marco Silva should be in with a shout for manager of the year.
  17. We signed both early in the transfer window. One can’t make the squad and the other is benched. Big, big questions need to be asked over why they were signed.
  18. Thank God we didn’t. Oh wait…
  19. We are dreadful, that’s the problem. Selles is a great guy and did well to beat Chelsea but this is a bigger issue.
  20. Wow. Talk about hyperbole.
  21. I really hope we don’t overhype Selles.
  22. I know very little about Selles but there’s two things he gave from that press conference that NJ never did from day one - confidence and hope.
  23. For some reason that junk SaintsExtra feed eats up my Twitter timeline even though I don’t follow it.
  24. Do we have a Selles chant yet?
  25. None of this is true.
