Romeu is poor defensively. Gets done regularly and gives the ball away to easily when in defensive positions (in that case very similar to wanyama). What Romeu, Clasie and apparently PEH are all good at is striding forward, riding challenges and piging good passes about going forward. Thats great for attacking.... but we're gonna leak like a sieve due to play coming straight through the middle... and we'er open on the flanks because of how narrow we set up. Hope we score more

People seriously need to consider why and when the ITK's post on here. As much as we all appreciate the information, its never leaked without purpose.

In truth this is a fantastic analogy. We sold 3 first team players, and purchased two. The squad is weaker despite consecutive seasons of profit, record revenues etc. If it ends that way come september then it is unacceptable.

This place is infested with people who love to be negative, remind us of our glass ceiling and delight in stating this fact repeatedly as if it is a medal that can be warn with pride to beat down those with actual ambition and passion for the club. All despite evidence to the contrary with the latest glorious example being the mighty Foxes. We've done well despite flogging and banking a profit for several consecutive seasons. Imagine if we'd had some real ambition. And at the end of the day... all these managers and all these players keep leaving.... Yet they are always to blame and it is never something wrong with the club or the board. No smoke without fire etc. But nvm, lets carry on supporting the saints. They have us all by the balls in that regards, we were here in League 1, so we'll obviously be here when we flog our soul each summer and under achieve as a result.

Glasgow is back I see. Thank god for the other forum....
-
We have 4 strikers of prem level though.

Why do remainers keep insulting the majority of the country. that is what I can't grasp tbh. Really need to move on and stop creating a divisive and bad tempered air. No one likes bad losers and now everyone needs to pull together.

if we signed him there would be jizz everywhere on here. I would be very surprise if it was depay, not one aspect of him fits saints.
-
£20 x 19 does not £570 make.
-
Bolasie is very good player. Has been for years and wish we'd signed him a long long time ago. In this window £30m really isn't that much. City have just spent nearly that on a guy they can't play until January and who no one has ever heard of (outside of the the bible).

If Les/board come out and say anything positive you know there is bad news coming. Be grateful for their silence.

We had the 14th highest wages in the league last season. From that you can take it as we are not paying massive wages. I hope the wider fanbase take note of this.

People finally realising what a rubbish transfer window we're having then? Haven't replaced pelle, haven't replaced mane, haven't replaced Wanyama. Yeah Redmond (rate highly), PEH (looks pretty good) and McCartney are decent players... but my god look what we've lost - Mane will become one of the most lethal players on the planet (unplayable on his day) and borderline world class already. Pelle was a good top half centre forward and Wanyama was one of the best CDM's in the league. Not a single one of them has been replaced and there have been no improvements to a single position on the field. The result is that we are currently far weaker 11 vs 11 compared to last season. Poor and no excuse really.

I really enjoyed Star Trek, nice mix of the old school trek and the new feel. Slightly irritating reminder of star trek nemesis to it but a good sci fi romp all in all.

Top 8/9 should be the minimum accepted league position for the fans to be honest, i hope the club can achieve it, but I am not fully confident that we can. Sadly we are currently weaker as all our transfers in are poorer that the players in last years starting 11, we've also lost some key players. I also think we have not yet adapted to the new system and look pretty damn blunt up front. Still, recent seasons are what the club should be judged against, there is no reason as to why we shouldn't come close to matching them, and therefore that is what the season should be judged against. I also like Puel, but he does seem to have the charisma of a blunt wooden spoon in his interviews

I have to completely disagree with this. It is so negative and unambitious I am amazed... Even Les Reed has said we are aiming at champions league in the near future this summer. And Everton? Spend freely.... They've signed an aston villa reject on the cheap and free transfer stek... There "promised" millions are from the sale of stones and lukaku. We came 6th last season which means by your logic of "money = positions" we would get 8th on your above summary stating that liverpool and chelsea will come above us. Now explain the net spends of Arsenal, tottenham and Leicester, and Saints in your theory of budget = league positions.... then explain Newcastle, man city, chelsea last season.... Your basis is senseless, the top spenders did not outperform the rest, it was largely the opposite of that in fact. As for expectations. We were 6th last year and have been a top 8 side now for effectively 3 seasons. We have had record revenues throughout this period, massive tv monies, transfer profits... we have even had a stable summer by our standards... yet you think we should be aiming happily to drop 4 positions and come 8th.... as a target.... for our ambition. Good god man, if Forster hadn't been out for the first half of last season we'd have got top 4!!!.... If clattenburk hadn't robbed us away vs leicester we would be the form team of England in 2016... and you think we should aim for 10th.... As it is we are the second best team of 2016. I flat out do not understand unambitious views like this other than I guess you are easily impressed and made happy when your expectations are exceeded. Fortunately for the club and most of our fans we are a lot more ambitious and the very least we will be aiming at is top 8.
-
Top 8 is the benchmark now. Club have shed loads of money, fantastic facilities, 14th lowest wages in the league and great kids coming through. No excuse given the record TV monies and transfer profits over recent seasons not to be able to continue with kicking on. Obviously I'd expect us to get out of the EL groupe and have a decent cup run in one of the domestic ones. And the club have no excuse really for not delivering a top 8 finish. Even that is regression, but you have to accept that chelsea will do better this year and should finish above us. Liverpool regrettably the other team we can expect to improve and challenge us for our current position. But dropping lower than that would be very poor and entirely self inflicted. West Ham have had a poor pre season due to europa league qualifiers and if stoke and/or Everton overtake us then it would be pretty damn disappointing.
-
Hardly surprising when you sell Mane and Pelle and replace them with 6 goals Redmond. The club will sign someone else to address it.
-
No! Because we are saints. We are the club that don't need to throw money around to strengthen the team; every year we do it and make a profit!!!!
-
The chance of 6 consecutive heads is something like 1.56%... not the first strategy I'd approach. Fortunately there is rather more to it than tossing a coin.
-
Sigh, we sell 3 quality first team players. We sign redmond and 3 squad players. 4 players all worse than those leaving. 2 of them will hardly play unless cedric's on his bike or Forster is about to do his knee again. I remain underwhelmed by this transfer window so far. 1 or 2 genuine upgrades for the first team required otherwise we will be weaker this season with more games to play, whilst all around us our rivals for a top 8 finish are strengthening.
-
Seeing reports that Everton and United are both after Jose with a £9m bid having been received from Everton and ignored. (Last part does sound rubbish!) It would be disappointing if that happens, hopefully their williams interest will be the end of it.
-
Batman has a point. It would be unacceptable to sell those players and not reinvest to strengthen and improve the first team and squad. The team is currently weaker, that is what Batman is getting at I think. And whilst saints will do fine, most fans outside of the saintsweb bubble want to see them keep pushing onwards rather than banking shed loads of profit year after year whilst they sell the team's stars and sit pretty with the 7th lowest wages in the league. Our fanbase is very like Arsenal's tbh, we like to sit here on our high horses banging on about how fantastically well run we are... whilst at the same time not wanting to make hypocrites of ourselves by asking where the money goes each summer. Clubs where the fans that don't keep asking questions and keeping the boards on their toes have no right to expect anything from the club and ultimately end up in a direction rather like Pompey, bolton, villa etc. In my opinion our fans should be disappointed with the summer so far and should be expecting extra players to come in and strengthen the team. That thought should be voiced and it is more harmful to tell "dissenting voices" to "go and support another team" just because supposed grown adults can't stand them saying something bad, than it is for our fans to constantly expect the club to be looking for improvement. That said, we should all have faith that the club will reinvest the money as their track record has been fair on this point in recent years. Whilst the club can always do better, we can also do a hell of a lot worse. I think some do lose sight of that.

Good news Guan thank you. Glad to see that the thoughts of those who were currently unhappy with the squad depth currently this are shared by the club.

Since the last one of those is true, do I assume you believe the first two?
