Quite agree for me he's our weak link. I still hope the club will bring in a new striker as a first choice partner for Lambert. If they do we'll have too many forwards. I was rather hoping Barnard was going to be the one to make way.

Compared to other clubs in League 1 we made very little use of the loan system last season. Given our current squad size and what's been said publicly by the manager and chairman I doubt if we'll be bringing in more than one or two on loan at most.

I'd be disappointed if we don't make significant purchases because our chairman and others connected with SFC have been bigging the club up so I'm expecting it. I wouldn't reproach the Liebherrs for not spending though, it's entirely up to them what they do with their money. If I was a billionaire I can think of plenty of other things I rather waste my money on than some football club I'd never heard of.

Personally I'm inclined to agree that we're unlikely to beat Leicester to a signing but I don't think it's as clear cut as you make out. There's no real way of knowing what Cortese has in his back pocket before he flashes his wad. Saying there's no evidence to suggest otherwise is disingenuous given that we've yet to make a signing as a Championship club.

How could a "news month" be any slower than the one we're currently in? MLG makes a perfectly relevant point - these people's details are normally made publicly available by the club. This guy's haven't been. Personally I'd be interested to know if he's employed by the club because of what he said about the club's recruitment policy. It's far from clear to what funds are available, and whether the summer will be spent bringing in potential Premier League quality players or S****horpe rejects.
