Personally I'm inclined to agree that we're unlikely to beat Leicester to a signing but I don't think it's as clear cut as you make out. There's no real way of knowing what Cortese has in his back pocket before he flashes his wad. Saying there's no evidence to suggest otherwise is disingenuous given that we've yet to make a signing as a Championship club.

Last Game Of The Season (Walsall) Signed Matchball

Who do you think you are Cherie Blair? -
How could a "news month" be any slower than the one we're currently in? MLG makes a perfectly relevant point - these people's details are normally made publicly available by the club. This guy's haven't been. Personally I'd be interested to know if he's employed by the club because of what he said about the club's recruitment policy. It's far from clear to what funds are available, and whether the summer will be spent bringing in potential Premier League quality players or S****horpe rejects.

Too right, I can't believe I'm reading this. Roll on next season I want my life back.

Loved it thanks - Lambert sure takes a monster penalty

Why not turn it on it's head. When was the last time we really idolized a black player? Personally, I can't think of any since the Wallace brothers. Which is a bit strange when you think of the number of black players at the club. I think the general point that black players get more stick and less adoration is proably valid, though I'm not sure that Puncheon is the best example as he's done himself no favours.

Good - have nice summer on the beach Adam

The real issue is libel tourism - their are newspapers in obscure Eastern European quasi-dictatorships that live in fear of British judges.

You have got to be kidding, they are a total pair of amateur muppets.
-
I'd like to share your optimism but do you seriously think they're worth anything? They're probably already on higher wages than most League 1 clubs can afford and most League 1 clubs hardly ever pay for players anyway.
-
Norwich brought in five or six new players after being promoted. If they'd just kept their League 1 squad they'd never've done it. IMHO.
-
Have to say I completely agree with Chez and am disappointed at that retained list. I can't see the point in keeping players like Gobern and Martin and I'd been expecting them to be released to free up space for new signings. I also worry about Barnard as I think he'll get found out in the Championship.
-
No Lallana seems like he might have what it takes. Look, let me put it this way. It's 2010. You're a Fulham fan and Liverpool have just poached Roy Hodgson. Who would your rather your Chairman appointed a guy whose done a good job in the lower leagues, like Adkins, or a manager whose got experience of playing and managing in the Premier League with some success and has all the connections? I'd go for Mark Hughes any day and when we get to that stage I reckon we'll need a manager with that sort of background.
-
Good question. If Adkins could walk on water I don't think he'd merit a five year deal. In five years time the plan is that we're an established Premiership team. To achieve that end we'll need a completely new squad. The players we've got at the moment were excellent in League 1, will do a job in the Championship and won't, a couple of exceptions aside, be able to hack it in the Premiership. I expect the same to apply to the manager.
-
Personally I agree with Saint Lard. I'm pleased we've been promoted but I can't see the guy warrants a five year contract.
-
Have always rated him - Barnard should be the man to make way IMHO

Personally i find his it's not over yet attitude a bit ridiculous. -
I think perhaps it actually helps matters that they chop and change a bit. When a player comes in he's used to playing with the others and knows he's not just there as a stop gap but as a trusted member of the unit. Take your point about playing people out of position, there's been too much of that in recent years. Always thought LJ gave his all, but he wasn't up to it. For next season I'd like to see us bring in a new centre back as but can't see us needing any other defensive reinforcements.
-
Hardly a settled defence - not that it seems to matter
-
Many thanks for putting that up - much appreciated :-)
