Release clauses are not really relevant in England. They are not legally enforcable as Suarez found out when he tried to force a move to Arsenal a couple of seasons ago. Supposedly United made an enquiry to his availability when they bought Schneiderlin but were told he is not for sale and that, as far as i've seen was that. BBC Sport: Southampton have admitted Manchester United are interested in signing Senegal winger Sadio Mane. Strange choice of word seeing as it has only emerged in the last hour or so. It's not like it's been in the pipeline for a long time. As quickly as this is escalating though I'm getting quite worried he will go. At the same time if he wants out we should cash in now and replace him. The last thing we want is United panicking and buying him on deadline day, leaving us without arguably our best player.

I agree Muller seems extremely unlikely but I'd be surprised if they'd spend the huge amount we would insist on for Mane considering the forward options they have.
