I'd be surprised to see us go in for him personally. With our history of vetting players of a "team fit", I would find it unlikely to see us sign someone fresh after seeing them go on strike and then AWOL. That said Cortese may be confident of handling such players after the Puncheon scenario, but I doubt he would be in a rush to risk that again. Who knows?

I find this so bizarre. I saw him back in about '07(ish), supporting The Rifles at the Astoria (RIP). He was awful, booed, had loads of cans thrown at him, not helped by the comment "throw what you want, I don't care I'm still getting paid". For all the arrogance he did three songs and scampered pretty sharpish. Back then he was a different act to what he is now, trying to be a rapper (ironically with a song called you can't rap - HE REALLY CAN'T) and just awful samples (Toxic, Peaches etc). I did see him (well, was there not really paying attention) at V, and he was much better. Still a bit baffled that he had a significantly larger crowd than both Noel Gallagher & The Stone Roses. Really? I'm going to have to be the one to say something about this? He didn't say became here for the money. He said he made an offer which would change his life for him and his family (can't telly blame anyone for that, easy to sit in your ivory tower and criticise, but we'd all do the same). But, he also said he came as he wanted to be at a club that focuses on developing young players, ie what he is, and was really impressed with the facilities, and was basically told he would be integral to the future planning of the squad. He said it was this packag and ambition of the club that sold him. Yeah, he's getting a decent pay day, but what international footballer at 21 is going to move country for a pay cut?
