Start by reading Um Pahars post above. There was a very interesting link posted on the old SaintsForum to a site dedicated to professional marketeers. There they had commissioned research into who followed what club throughout the British Isles. Not necessarily who went along and paid, but when asked said they backed team X. I cant find the site again alas, or remember the exact details but it went something like Man U on top of the list (surprise surprise) with an estimated 4m odd fans, Liverpool second with 2m, Rangers or Celtic third and fourth with just short of 2m etc etc. Saints were 17th, (or 18th) sandwiched between Hearts above and Norwich below. The list was just the top twenty in Britain. Notable for their absence was nearly half the premiership including Portsmouth. Does that make us a big club in terms of Man U, Arsenal etc etc? No; but it does show we are a biggish club whose potential should be realised by being a premiership club at least. NB. I think there were 5 scottish clubs in the top twenty Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts. Which would make us 12, or 13 in England which ties in fairly nicely with UPs research.

i used to believe you to be one of the more thoughtful posters on here. Lowe 12 years, two relegations, dutch football, rugby coaches and an allianated fan base. Crouch 6 months, one poor mangerial appointment one good and numerous acts of generosity. Yeah hypocracy.

I fear Surman will be another Oakley, in that bags of early promise is never really fullfilled. £700K for Surman seems about right, but as someone has already said it does point to a consortium without much money.

Me too. All those that say "if it means Lowe returning or Saints not exhistiing" etc etc, are missing the point. If Lowe returns there really will be no Saints.

If we wait to see before we make our feelings known, it will be too late. I think it's a lot better that Fry, Barclays, Norwich Union, any other creditors, and investors know that having Lowe on board won't work. If, as i hope, it's not Lowe i didn't need to worry; and myself, Stanley and others have only lost a few calories on the keyboard.

You forget we have a modern 32k stadium capable of generating funds beyond football. If the rumours are to be believed this is available for as little as £7-8m. Most Chapionship and league One/Two clubs can only dream of that and would have to pay £40m to build it. This alone makes us very attractive.

My money is on Souness. In fact maybe it really should be. Would Ladbrooks quote me on that?

First article yesterday said investigation into £40m hole in accounts, todays said something like 'things were being investigated'. Nobody could nick £40m in just 12 months, more likely over the last 12 years or so is my guess.
