Now the Russian Defence Ministry have "discovered" that there might have been some there after all, ( probably after the Ukrainians repeatedly posted videos of them after capture ). How come they didn't know ?

Oh for the days when the RAF claimed to have shot down 200 German aircraft in one afternoon. Whilst the Ukrainian claims are no doubt exaggerated, counting the KIA, wounded, and POWs, there will be far more than the Russians admit to - if they even have an idea as to what their true casualty numbers are.

To what point in history ? To the early 1980s when we struggled to put a task force together to retake the Falklands, and if the Argies had waited 12 months for the Defence Review to kick in would have found it even harder ? To the 1950s when National Service kept the numbers high as we tried to keep peace in East Africa and Malaysia ? Or to the numbers in uniform in May 1945 ? Remember, this is the Government that has considered reducing our MBT force down to zero, and reduced our F-35 numbers to a quarter of the original order.

The EU scheme for Ukrainian refugees is visa free and covers the Schengen area and Ireland. They can travel freely and stay for up to 3 years.

But Ireland are part of the EU scheme to allow visa free travel and settlement for up to 3 years.

A Home Office official tells the press later "We have started to set it up". Apparently there is currently a table with 3 people handing out ready salted crisps and chocolate bars. However, given that Ukrainian refugees are free to travel throughout the Schengen area, what is to stop them going to Ireland then simply crossing the border into Ulster ?

Up to now, Hungary has tended to be pro-Putin.

The problem is that both organistions set preconditions on mebership, which Ukraine has so far not reached. Ironically, they are both now trying to enable fast-track routes for new members, such as Finland and Sweden joining NATO, and Moldova joining the EU.
