  1. The most dangerous component of any car is the nut that holds the steering wheel.

  4. Could one of the financial whizzkids on here please explain how this bit, from the snooze on Wednesday, is possible : "Mr Andronikou said he hoped money from the potential sale of NOS would be pumped into Pompey’s running costs." 1) Is NOS actually worth anything without the WRC rights ? 2) If CSI are in administration, surely monies raised from the disposal of assets goes to creditors ?
  5. That film is so wrong on so many levels. I wonder what proportion of it's American audience thought it was historically accurate.
  6. The thing is that some 'bad' movies are, as been mentioned above, so awful they somehow manage to be entertaining, ( in a beer fuelled Saturday night with pizza sort of way ) - the classic example is probably Snakes on a Plane. Far worse are 'serious' films with a 'message' that just fail epically on every level; for me something like The Day After Tomorrow is truly carp.
  7. Wait 'til they're 18 ! It doesn't get easier or cheaper..

  9. The interesting thing is that Georgie Porgie isn't actually going to pay for it anyway, he is supposed to be working on a way to 'persuade' the Local Government pension schemes to 'invest' ( cough ! ) their funds against Government issued 'Infrastructure Bonds'.
  10. Not sure if anybody else has linked this ( so much fun was had yesterday ) : http://www.portsmouth-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/who_is_joseph_cala_722433/index.shtml "Early impressions of Pompey's possible latest owner are that he seems to be Sulaiman Al-Fahim (pipe dreamer), Ali Al-Faraj (defaulting on payments) and Vladimir Antonov (alleged criminal) all rolled into one! Still, it is early days yet and the more investigative journalists/Pompey fans may well dig up some more dirt on Cala, or at least find some information to give us a crumb of hope because at the moment, this chancer sounds even worse than the previous owners!"

  12. You could always start a thread about women in football, post some indecent pictures, and call Baj some rude names. Just trying to help.
  13. Snuff - Terry Pratchett's latest Discworld episode
  14. 2 excellent bands with strong Blackpool connections.

  17. Well I am certainly superior to Dune, ( but then again if, as is alleged, he/she is on JSA he/she doesn't contribute to my wages ).
  18. In Dune's democracy one Conservative vote counts for 10 of anybody else's.
  19. 2 or 3 more; not Kris Commons and Del Fonso was a very firm NO !
  20. I'm bored of them already.
  21. Which of the 2 examples ? In the first case an innocentman was executed. In both cases a trial jury found the defendant guilty, so there was apparently no doubt, at least 'beyond any reasonable...', at that point. Who draws the line ? Who verifies that sufficient evidence has been supplied to ensure that there is 'no doubt at all' ? Define 'no doubt at all'. There are a multitude of cases where people have been found guilty, and only after serving many years inside, ( those lucky enough not to have been hanged that is ), has a Miscarriage of Justice been shown to have occurred: http://www.innocent.org.uk/cases/
  22. We did exactly the same thread in 2009, and on that one I posted the following link : http://truenorth-armagh.blogspot.com/2009/09/better-that-one-hundred-guilty-men-go.html When does 'absolute proof' stop being 'absolute' ? Edit : also try Googling 'Lesley Molseed' and read the case of Stephan Kisko, who would have been executed if we had retained the death penalty. ( One of a multitude of examples that could be used ).
  23. In you look at the murder rates in each of the states in the USofA, 19 of the highest ranked 20 states have the death penalty, 8 of the lowest 9 do not. So much for deterrence. http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/murder-rates-nationally-and-state#MRord http://www.ncadp.org/index.cfm?content=45
  24. So maybe the Church should provide for the offspring consequential to their teachings. Then again, if the Orthodox are anything like the RCs I wouldn't let them anywhere near children.
