The forwards we've brought in on loan so far this season seem to have been worse that what we already have (and that's ignoring our better forwards out on loan). So I'm not all that confident that Jan will be able to pull a rabbit out of his hat.
A few times in the past people have mentioned that Nick Holmes could come in as manager. As much as the romantic in me would like to see it, I've always felt that it would be too big a jump to go from the Conference to the Championship.
However, with Nigel Clough looking set to join Derby, it will be interesting to see how he gets on. I appreciate Burton are doing better than Salisbury, but without knowing the individual circumstances of each club I don't know whether that is to be expected.
Any fans of non league football able to give an informed view?
We haven't got any money to bring players in, so it doesn't really matter to be honest. If we get anyone they'll most likely be loans, and I'm pretty sure there's a loan system after the transfer window closes.
Problem is, so far this season you could have said similar things about Thompson, Gobern, Robertson, Pekhart, Holmes, Smith etc etc.
They come in, play a good game or two, then get ditched.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it was a good idea. I think the whole idea of trying to prop up the share price is stupid, especially for an illiquid stock like SLH where there are few shareholders.
I wouldn't resign if I was him. He'll never get another job as big as this one, no matter how crappy it is at the minute. I'd be in no hurry to go back to managing in front of 300 fans in Holland.
