Sort of hoping he'll play 3 at the back, seeing as our best players are all midfielders!
-
Realistically we're looking at 10th at best whatever we do, imo. Regarding replacing players that have left, Lambo would have spent most of the season on the bench anyway, we've replaced Lallana, and either Targett or Chambers should be able to fill the gap left by Shaw. If Morgan goes, we have plenty of other quality midfielders already, one or two of which struggled to get a game last season but who have loads of potential (Ramirez, Cork, Davis, JWP etc etc). Agreed if Lovren goes, we need another defender. In fact we could do with at least one already anyway. More than anything else we need a target man up front. Yep, I agree, we should go for quality. No-one worth more than £20m is likely to consider a move to Saints, so I reckon we should spend £40m on a quality striker and a quality defender.

Surely no longer having 3 England internationals in your team can only mean you've improved?!!
-
I think bringing in too many at once will just lead to disorganisation and misunderstandings on the pitch (look at Spurs last season, not to mention Norwich!) I'd just go for a striker and versatile defender at this stage, with more players to follow in January.

Absolutely love that. Both kits are best we've had for years. Can't afford both though (can't really even afford one tbh). Might just buy the socks!

I've got a feeling RK will set us up like the dutch national side, with 3/5 at the back, 1 up front and a strong emphasis on creative midfield play. He's therefore right to concentrate on the midfield as the priority and we may get away with only signing 1 quality striker

Dusan Tadic - DONE DEAL, official and everything
Brave Sir Robin replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
So we're absolutely 100% certain that it's too late for Liverpool to hijack this and nick him off us at the last second? It's just that I wouldn't put it past them! -
Except mine I'm afraid! Sorry, but right now the only one of those I'd feel confident about getting us the amount of goals we'll need would be Rodriguez (as long as he recovers quickly and stays fit). We need someone of at least Lukaku's quality imo, preferably of Sturridge's to really carry on where we left off at the end of last season. Yes, I know it probably aint gonna happen, but I can dream cant I?

I cant help feeling like Saints have finally, properly arrived back in the premier league at last! fingers crossed we stay up now!

Somebody back there in the thread said something about "Think Pony" Not sure if they were referring to the previous 90's kit, or were using rhyming slang
-
You see, that's the bit I still find hard to agree with. Take Suarez out of the equation (as will be the case very soon), and Liverpool's squad last year were no better than ours. If he and others had stayed, and we'd added 1 or 2 to the squad, I honestly think we were pretty much nailed on to finish above them next season (in 5th or 6th). As it is, I reckon they're looking at 5th at best next season, and we'll be anywhere between 10th and 20th depending on signings and RK's influence. I think he just gave in to greed and the ego inflating notion of being able to tell his grandchildren he played for Liverpool and England. In short, Clattenburg was right.

They look like they've spilt their lucozade down their fronts!
-
Can't see him or Rickie playing in any games except maybe cup ties against lower league opposition, so the banner might look a bit irrelevant, but "Clattenburg was right" fits the bill.
-
No word of Hernandez coming the other way? Boooo!
-
In answer to OP: 1, maybe 2. And 5 to come in
-
Hahahahahahaha! Stop it, you're killing me! Now get back in there and clean the first teams's boots!
-
I'd love it if we put in bids for Sterling and Sturridge, whilst reiterating that we intend to keep Lallana, who we now value at £30!

I didn't like the sash. Last kit I liked was the one we wore in 2003. I had a dream that this years will involve a rather ugly combination of thick and thin stripes. Luckily I'm more bothered about how they play than how they look!
-
That's the way I see it. Can't help feeling he's probably just had the best season he ever will and it'd be wise to cash in. The only concern I have is the effect he seems to be having on other players, who apparently see an opportunity to follow him out the door to get a pay rise. The England thing baffles me. It's not like you need to be a huge talent to get into the England squad! To progress, we need to be targetting one or two players that are able to get into decent international teams, like Holland and Germany for example.
-
Nobody English, that's for sure! Maybe one or two Dutch players though...
-
Yessss! I'm calling it now - we're going to finish above both Spurs & Liverpool, in 5th or 6th!
-
Yikes! There's going to be one mahoosive meltdown in here if Malky or McLaren is unveiled now!

Academy graduates to play in the PREMIER LEAGUE
Brave Sir Robin replied to Lance's topic in The Saints
I think you should just point to the quality of our graduates. I honestly cant think of one player Man City have produced, whereas anyone who's followed the Premier League over the last few years will easily rattle off a list of at least 5 Saints academy products, 4 of which have played for England. Man City have bought their success, we've created ours. End of debate. -
Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge & Jordan Henderson.
