Barcalona is beautiful, but in my opinion the pickpocketing is no worse than any other city of its size - London or Paris for example. If you're vigilant it will be fine. I stayed there with my girlfriend last summer, NU hotels, theres a few out there but the one we stayed in was at the top of Las Ramblas. Easy walk to the shops, metro etc. Plus I highly recommend the market, the food is fantastic there, best street food I've eaten.

I think the most interesting part about this planned development - is the location. It is located near to the HS2 "hub" that will be finished by our charming government. This area will then (theoretically) become busier and attract businesses. The idea that they are moving it there in hope of new fan-base is a ridiculous one, but if you think about the facitlities a stadium has - conference rooms, suites etc it is a perfect place to rent out for business meetings with people from the north. As well as this the regeneration of the area, with hotels etc will again help to increase the wealth of the region. Chances are the club will have to subsidise and pay for a large amount of the regeneration work itself (Sainsburys do this frequently). And with the increase in jobs this may not be a bad thing, the council are likely to approve this IMO.

Currently I am a university student, with mounting debts and limited food. I honestly cannot afford to pay for the train down to Southampton from where I am, even though it is on the same line, let a lone buy a ticket for a single game. As well as this I do not have access to sky or ESPN etc where the games are shown live, I do not have a TV license so i have to watch MOTD 2/3 days after the games have happened, meaning that reading on here is sometimes pointless. So in my position watching a stream online is the only way I can actually effectively see the goals, see my team and watch us develop. If this option wasn't available I'd have to read what people are posting in the live thread or read the shocking BBC "live" update reports - not quite the same effect.
