With a bit of luck we could be 6th or 7th realistically, especially if J Rod comes back strong in the New Year. But that depends how we handle the run of really tough games coming up, if we beat United twice as we play them before they can spunk another couple of hundred million on the defenders they should've bought in the first place then we've got a good chance of finishing above them at least...

http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/36366 Quite an amusing match preview from the QPR perspective, fair to say that they aren't exactly confident...

Wagamamas isn't bad, can be a bit hiss and miss as with any chain though. I have the Chicken Katsu Curry or Firecracker Chicken usually, but still much prefer Chicken Katsu Donburi at Nobu Old Park Lane or the Chicken Anti-Cucho at Nobu Berkeley Street, it's only a tenner more as well...

Anyone else think we could be on the verge of something special?

United will only be shîte defensively until January, when any fool (except van Gaal strangely) could've told you a couple of centre backs would've been a much better use for the Di Maria money. Mind you van Gaal may not last long enough to spend another £784m in the January window on players that aren't priorities... -
Think we should be winning this one comfortably, what with all their injuries and the fact that they are generally shambollôcks on the road...

http://babb.telegraph.co.uk/2014/09/the-20-best-players-in-the-premier-league-so-far-september-14/ Very funny article that is tenuously linked to the thread title. We've got 3 players in this Top 20, no surprises which ones they are... -
Great game, bar the bloody Arabic commentating! Mane looked excellent, just needs to stay on his feet more and it looks like him and Tadic is going to be a deadly wing combination. Targett was better than I thought he'd be, Pelle can backheel like an absolute boss and Gardos was very solid and a marked improvement on Yoshida

Wenger has been very complimentary (translated from Dutch press): Wenger praises' miracle trainer Koeman LONDON - Ronald Koeman under Arsene Wenger deserves a big compliment. The French manager of Arsenal is impressed by the work of Koeman at Southampton, Tuesday's opponent in the League Cup. "They have performed a miracle at Southampton," Wenger said Monday admiringly. "Everyone thought the club would collapse, they lost this summer around the axis of the team and also their trainer. But with Koeman at the helm, they are incredibly strong come back. " The 'Saints' standing after five games surprisingly in second place in the Premier League. "Koeman has tremendous experience," said Wenger. "He knows everything about the game. Although he does not know the English league but the Dutch. And he has good reinforcements brought from the Netherlands ", as referred to Wenger Dusan Tadic (FC Twente) and Graziano Pellè (Feyenoord). "He's doing great."

I know that sense will most likely prevail and the Scots will realise it's all the ego driven ramblings of a complete idiot and that it is economic suicide, but hypotheticals are fun

If Scotland were to become independent would that then mean that all Scottish players in the Prem would no longer count as home grown? Also, if as Spain has suggested, it takes 5 years for them to join the EU will there then need to be work permits etc. could make the FA's life a bit difficult...

Comprehensive list, I wish I'd been old enough to remember the Dell the one time I was taken there (think I was 4), but we were living in Japan until I was 8 (2001) so not much opportunity to go see Saints until St.Mary's was built! Stade Veledrome is my local ground at the house in France and the atmosphere there is incredible (even if the concrete seats leave something to be desired) and as I'm only 20 minutes away by train I often catch Marseille matches when I'm down there

@bigadamsport: A few #saintsfc fans slightly worried about Sadio signing - there is no conspiracy theory - paperwork from Africa slow to be processed

http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/southampton-benfica-eyeing-werder-bremen-striker-davie-selke-4040448 Linked to a young striker, I don't watch German football so has anyone with an affinity for Werder Bremen got any insight? Here's a scouting report, compared to Klose and Dzeko: http://footballtalentscout.net/2014/08/02/davie-selke/

When does Di Matteo's Chelsea contract expire? Would've thought he'd be a better option than Moyes, Pulis or Adolf Mackay...

And J-Rod!!!

More defensive team than I was expecting given that Newcastle are likely to be setting up for a 0-0 draw as Pardew's job is on the line...

Just saw this stat when reading a match preview: "Saints have won 10 and lost just 1 of 14 previous Premier League home games against Newcastle (D3)." Amazing stat and does given confidence when coupled with their recent form...

Seeing as it's pronounced Mah-nay it might fit Pink Floyd's Money quite nicely...

Do you watch a lot of the youth teams The9? Do you reckon Callum Slattery or Josh Sims are better, I've heard both mentioned as future stars...
