A good win today but tbf Everton were a poor side. Shame we couldn't keep the first 10 minutes momentum up for longer as we would have beat them by a much bigger score. Sims wow, what a prospect!

What is?.

How come everyone else in life can work 5 days or more a week including those who do very physical jobs and risk injury and who get paid a pittance compared to footballers, but most of our team can't do two!.

Sparta Prague 1 Saints 0 - Match Thread & Melt Down
Saint Billy replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
What a disservice that outfit did to the fans that made that trip and others, disgusting!. Even though we had a run of unbeaten games the style of our play has been dull dull dull. The only time I see our players running with any purpose or plan is when they are heading towards our own goalkeeper and giving him the ball to work out what to do with it. This stuff is so tedious to watch, god knows what the players are feeling having to play that way. I do think we have an inadequate side but what compounds it is a manager who seems hell bent on protecting our own goal rather than putting the ball in their's. Reed, your run of good fortune has run out and somehow you have conspired to hire Monsieur Branfoot. The dreamy heights we have reached over the last few seasons are now well and truly over. Our reluctance to push on has now left us with a dull manager, squad and plàying style......well done!. -
Careful people, don't get carried away, some people on here thought Zlatan was saints bound lol. Sturridge would be perfect for us but these type of big name players never join saints these days.

Well that sounds more unfair than I even thought it was, what a croc!

If someone has a grip on this FFP can they please enlighten me as it seems totally unreasonable that even if we had the investment we cannot compete with the bigger boys because we are not allowed to use it to bolster the club. I know that bigger clubs have much better revenues but their expenditure is far greater what with paying high fee's and salaries, saying that weren't Man city under FFP constraints recently?. Apologies for being a dinlo.
-
Its pointless getting excited when one of our player's signs a long contract, all it means is that we command a higher fee for that player when he is sold the next season or the season after. Apart from the elite clubs its the same for all of us, sad but true. We either accept it or give up on the game. My love for the money governed game is depreciating and its only my love for saints that keeps me interested.

Hoping that Clasie doesn't start, only bring him on if we are 6 - 0 up with 10 minutes left and we can afford to lose control of midfield.
-
And we are consistently not putting them in the back of the net which is the whole point of the game isn't it?.
-
Jesus, have your happy pills run out?.

The kit change wouldn't bother me as our kit sucks, but the name and logo change definitely would.

Run to the bunkers folks!

How dare you speak negatively about a saints player, tut tut.

I'm not worried about plan B, I just think plan A needs a little revamp in order to turn possession into more goals.
-
This seems to be the story in every game we play, lots of possession and missed opportunities. I like Puel but he does seems to only have one way playing and is reluctant to change things, plus his determination to keep playing Clasie who is regularly underperforming is a bit odd. I think we need a couple of additions in the January transfer window one of which is a striker with a bit more creativity about him and who can complimemt Austin who does lack decent service at times.

Wasn't this Chinese interest rumoured a few months back? To be honest I would not be surprised if there was some truth to it. Saints are not Kat's baby, she inherited it, she could walk away with a nice tidy profit and not have the hassle anymore of owning a football club. As someone else pointed out, our chairman has been really quiet this last year after his initial hands on approach, there has also not been much of the promised club transparency which makes me wonder if something is going on. A Chinese takeover makes me nervous but if Kat does want out what say have we got in the matter.

Absolutely great result, McQueen looks like a seasoned pro, got to be JWP's best game, excellent!

I think it is the style of football we are playing tbh. Dont get me wrong, I am not knocking the manager or players as it is obvious that something is working, but this slow build up play, sideways and square passing, back to the keeper possession play can sometimes be a bit of a yawn to watch. Oddly enough Romeu seems to get the crowd buzzing more with his fearless old fashioned English full blooded style of play, but other than that we do tend to keep possession by tip tapping the ball without actually much penatration which can imo sometimes lead to a dull spectacle unless someone like Boufal can turn on the magic as he did against Sunderland, that turned the volume up.

Thought we played ok 1st half without threatening too much but second half Chelsea's quality got the better of us especially as we were having to chase the game. Although we have done well so far this season considering the amount of games we are having to play there are a few things that rangle me. Our corners and spot kicks are terrible, Austin looks very alienated with poor service, Clasie does not cut it for me, still not convinced Redmond being an out and out forward, the square and backward passing by our midfield with little to no penetrating passes to the front two, Martina out of his depth. I think Chelsea's class exposed these more today but for me they have been there in various degrees all season. On a positive Romeu is an absolute revelation this season and was our best player again today

Yep, I feel your pain, it frustrates the sh*t out of me.
-
Thank the lord, Clasie off Boufal on.
-
Get Boufal on for christ sake to give us some creativity, all these nice shapes and square passing are not producing anything in front of their goal.
-
Game is opening up for Boufal to be a star again.

Bale closely followed by spider.
