If it's is truly the club's strategy to be a stepping stone, then I can't see that it has greatly benefited the fans. I'm not actually convinced this is the plan. We don't really want to lose our better players. As for 'next big things' using us as a launch pad - who are we referring to? Mane? Looked good but was playing in Austria, obviously jumped at the chance of a PL contract. Doubt we made any promises. Morgan? Was with us for years, so different situation entirely. Same with lallana. Clyne/chambers/Shaw - worked hard and deserved a move, doubt it was ever part of an agreed plan Lovren - **** journeyman, probably as much of a surprise to him as anyone PEH / Clasie - middling squad members, probably happy just to get paid Boufal / Osvaldo - maybe some promises here. Seem the type of players Romeo / Bertrand - just looking for regular game time, can't imagine any promises required

To be fair, the clubs attempt to stem the out-flow of quality through the introduction of long term contracts for our best players was worthwhile. We were all shouting for it a year or two ago. But what we didn't realise was quite how treacherous some players can be when they see an opportunity. So, 6 year contracts don't engender loyalty, but they should provide decent compensation when the ****s are looking for an escape route. Not really the Southampton Way we bought into with NIgel and MP mk.1. Sadly I think this situation is a legacy of the Puel era. The club chose a journeyman manager who was unable to inspire the team or the fans. If we had Kept Koeman, this situation would never have occurred. Yes he was a ****, perhaps his demands were unrealistic, but without stability or inspiration, I'm not surprised the team began to fragment. Hopefully MP mk.2 is able to forge a better team from the players we have, and we get to keep him for a few seasons.

Yes, we sold the diesel ones. Offer too good to refuse. Les reckons we now have the best hand-powered generators in the premiership, dontchaknow.
-
Maybe more of an average money move at that point, if the PL circus has rolled on. Personally want him out now, can't see myself cheering him on again. Sell to anyone for any value north of 50 as long as they pay off Celtic.

Has it gone?

That's obvious from the lounge. You just need to relax the swear filter now you *******.

Monk moves markets. Impressive.
-
You have to laugh, really. Who's going to be the new Captain? Butterfingers gets my vote. Or maybe yoshida? Doubt he'll be going anywhere soon.
-
Wish he'd hurry up and **** off. I want £70mil so we can win the profit/loss league again.

Count me disappointed

This thread has gone awfully quite with regards to the fishies. Have they been taken over? Are they enjoying the trappings of all that Micky Mouse Money? Or are they trapped in due-diligence hell?
-
Surely that just increases his value?
-
He completely dominated some of the England U21 games last year. I'd be very happy to see him here.
-
Scored on his arse. Sad to see him go.
-
What a season that would be. Fingers crossed.
-
Obviously, but you think on current evidence that we had an agreement in principle for a replacement?
-
So we sacked our (struggling) manager without an agreement in principle for a new one, and are now only looking at out of work managers? This is a very poor effort.

Christ. She is ****ing terrible. Almost makes me forget about our illegitimate PM and her appalling record as Home Secretary. -
Can someone remind me who 9-3 outed himself as? Was it Saint Charlie?

Adkins in attendance... . . .

we've been burned by disgruntled players throwing their toys out of the pram and i suppose a quick sale at an apparently good price was an opportunity to avoid this. However we could learn some lessons from everton re maximising player sale profits (stones, potentially lukaku).

Sadly I agree with every word. Bravo. I just watched some of the highlights from PMQ's for the first time in quite a while, and i didnt have a ****ing clue who most of the labour front bench were.

Who's Redmond going to for 30mil this summer then?
