  1. Great evening for Kelvin, good fun, although any speeches were impossible to translate from over the PA system Nice to see SRL, Punch and NA getting a good reception. Lee Holmes, poor guy , what a wasted talent over the years.
  2. With the PA in the Kingsland, you needed a babel fish to have any chance of understanding Kenzie, Ralph , SKD or anyone else who addressed the crowd tonight. Time for the club to sort it out I think.
  3. Without wishing to be, I am ITK on this one, knowing Italian guys in Winchester who come from Lecce and meet up with Graziano. Graziano loves being at the Saints. It is more that the club do not necessarily want to renew the contract of someone who will be 32 (?) when it runs out, but get a transfer fee with one year left on his contract this summer.
  4. Just popped over here to enjoy the moment. In Neil Allen's article, link posted above, I read: "Guards of honour are entirely respectful, but hurt that touch more when staged at Fratton Park" Nope, I've got no idea either.
  5. I suppose the question is then, how much more can we expend over and above the amount we have over recent years, noting all the additional money coming in from TV ? Secondly would this satisfy RK? Also can we not expect RK to not only spend all these funds but also give a bit extra? It is the usual football conundrum of where the buck stops - Each summer clubs identify players and bring them in, coach them and get them to play the way the coaches wish. Then one year later, they decide there are players out there who have never been coached in that club's system , but are perceived to be better. There comes a point when the coach stays loyal to what he has got playing in his own style. I would like to see many of the club's existing players put on better deals to retain their services.
  6. What I fail to understand in all this is Financial Fair Play. At the fans forum earlier in the season, Ralph (or Les?) mentioned that clubs like ours have FFP tied like a noose around us when competing with the clubs regularly competing in the CL. Therefore , however much we love RK, it is he who has to step up to the plate, like Ranieri did this season at Leicester, and give us that bit extra with whatever resources the club can extend to within these FFP constraints.
  7. Brilliant news that NA is coming back
  8. Agree with the earlier post, as a team player Stek is great in receiving and distributing the ball to/from his team mates. As a shot stopper , any decent shot on target generally goes in.
  9. You're certainly the man for the job there, Roger !
  10. Great thread. May I say with the inability to hear the muddled voices coming out of the PA system; I am delighted Saints have committed to signing MLT, SRL and Dan Harding as well as a load of the 1976 team to bolster our squad for our assault on the Europa League next season.
  11. Stroll in the park, Newcastle were very poor. Only disappointment was Tadic , who I thought was a passenger for most of the game this time out.
  12. Probably already on here, but yesterday was the first time Liverpool have lost from a 2 goal half time lead since 1964, according to the Liverpool Echo.
  13. If Sunderland are doomed, as posted previously Kirchoff looked the business here a couple of weeks ago in the Big Vic role
  14. Brilliant match, we rode our luck with their third 'goal' and the Benteke miss, and made our own problems , but forget all that and enjoy the sore throat - it was one of those once a season days. I don't recall a 'top club' tiring so badly at about 70 minutes, but we took advantage, and how !!!
  15. For continuity Erwin, otherwise Thomas Tuchel
  16. The top clubs have top players and next season can only spend their money on replacing like for like. The other teams in the league will have the finances to replace with better players. I think the league will be more competitive if clubs like Saints spend wisely. Time for the Black Box to prove its worth….
  17. If Vic is off and Sunderland go down, we could do worse than that guy in front of their back four (Kirchoff?). I thought he was useful as a defensive midfielder.
  18. The Yoshida VVD centre back pairing will be interesting in the next few games unless Gardos is anywhere near fitness. I think VVD is a complete footballer who could play anywhere down the middle, VVD is a stylish centre back, Lovren was good.
  19. A big cheer in the KR House ! And our Europa dream remains alive …
  20. I think we knew that - 2 wins in 15 games, Wanyama sent off twice, little protection for our players etc etc. Unfortunately Clattenburg is the new Graham Poll - a ref that runs his own show with everyone else on the pitch the support cast.
  21. That singing is up there with the Irish at Gdansk in 2012 Euros, the outpouring of the underdog !
  22. Wow: http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11792/10171281/watch-hibernian-fans-sing-sunshine-on-leith-after-beating-hearts
  23. The name Olivier Bernard is still likely to cause nightmares for Saints fans. When a left back opts to play that position while tethered like a goat to graze in the centre circle, you know you're in a relegation fight. On the same subject, am I the only one that hates the smug Graeme Le Saux appearing on our TV platform at the back of the Kingsland at recent games. Go away and take Jamie '20 minutes till his legs have gone' son of Saggy Chops with you.
  24. Wonderful times, and it appears rather sadly, the peak of his career.
  25. My OP was as much about the standard songs rolled out by all clubs with little variety. i.e. almost every club sings OWTS these days.
