Just back. I thought Taider, Bertrand and Tasic were strong; Pelle looked isolated but won a lot in the air. As previously indicated, we need someone buzzing around Pelle and a centre back to assist Fonte as Yoshida is struggling. However we contained a team used to playing CL football for long periods , albeit neither team threatened goal much.

He was banned for 3 games, he sat out 3 games. The issue is if he was registered for the first two, against St Patricks Athletic. I f he wan't then Legia are out !

One thing I've learnt over the years is that the SWF is not a reflection of the fan base opinion. Most stuff on here never gets talked about by those sitting around me at St Marys, so OP, I would not worry about the board losing / gaining trust of the fan base, the majority couldn't give a sh*t !

Not sure how many games you saw 9-3 to make such a statement. I would counter with we never came back to win a game after going behind; dropped silly points - at home to Cardiff and at Tottenham readily spring to mind; lost a very winnable FA Cup game at Sunderland; and rarely witnessed a plan B when we couldn't walk the ball into the net , so all told I would say Koeman could easily do as well as last season's efforts.

The difference is the media perception. Upgrade with replacements and ship the old out is considered progress, but lose a few players then buy (better) replacements is a crisis. Simple. Like you say the turnover of the starting XI is similar for all teams once the season starts. It's a bit like your bank manager getting irate when you spend moneys before they are paid into your account.

In response to the OP, I don't think any 'supporter' would leave the club; after having experienced Lloyd James 'controlling' the midfield or Jake Thomson 'tearing it up' down the wing; due to this current close season blip. Will probably flush out a few plastics though.

This makes more sense - the ongoing contracts of the outgoing players being unsustainable without NC's anticipated Champions League football payments. I would also like to believe this, apart from getting shot of 2/3 players should have been enough to cover others who could have been retained.

The Blackmore retweet is from someone asking if the club is for sale. We are selling players at ridiculously high fees, from a team that finished 8th last season. The problem on here is that due to the lack of any formal update from the club, too many are becoming amateur journalists looking for the angle on any minor quote / media comment. Koeman is too globally well known for the club to fob him off, and until confirmed otherwise maybe he is clearing the decks for building his dream team- he certainly is accumulating the funds.

Nice of the Daily Mail to go into meltdown on our behalf, but Koeman is living the dream, a budget to build his own team. Keep the faith.

Every time I have visited the Saintsweb forum lately, I find the conversations are still of 'lowered' expectations. Is 'more realistic' a more succinct description? The NC idea of breaking into the top 4 and staying there, and therefore displacing at least two of five long established globally recognised brands plus Tottenham and Everton was, dare I suggest it, bonkers. Accepting we are not top 4, we have to allow the top clubs to have their pick of the players before we can get in amongst them, so signings will probably be a lot nearer the start of the season. Nothing new there.
