Now is the time to say show our sincere gratitude
Kingsland Red replied to croydonsaint's topic in The Saints
It did seem today that the 'Koeman' way is the 'Poch' way without the hesitation and going backwards to get forwards - instead of four passes to get across the field one will do. Loved the way RK kept waving the team forward in the second half. -

Saints duo win awards - Koeman MOTM - Pellè POTM
Kingsland Red replied to angelman's topic in The Saints
Brilliant news, when did we last have a player win their award ? -
Mont Fort in Verb, Folie Douce in Val T I thought was a craic, or Tunnel in Chatel for a late evening .

I cannot believe those mentioned (and others) would start the whole process again if we sold for top price before buying. They must have other interests during a long hot sunny summer (?)

Mark Hughes's phantom goal for the Saints Aug 1999
Kingsland Red replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
I was there and queried my eye sight with my son when it went in, it was amazing none of the players seemed too bothered. -
I was thinking along these lines the other day. This time last year we were hoping Osvaldo would start scoring, Pelle has already overtaken his total before the bust up.

OK, here it is , my nightmare XI: Forecast Todd; Pearce; Bennett; Molyneux Dia; Kanchelski; Pulis; Ifill (Jordan) Robertson; Pericard

Exactly this. Having had a summer of the media having us in 'crisis' , let's just do our own thing, the Southampton Way, we march on etc etc !!

I grew up in North Kent and as my father was in the RAF in North Africa during the second world war, working on Spits, he used to go to Biggin Hill Air Show every year. I went with him most years in my youth. The sound of the merlin engine still get the hairs on the back of my neck up. I worked on a new multi storey building at Great Ormond Street Hospital in 1985, and during the VE Day 40th anniversary celebrations eight ( I believe) Spitfires flew along the Thames then banked around passing very low over us, fantastic memories. Great to see a couple flying over the docks the other week before the WBA game.

How many more are big enough to apologise?
Kingsland Red replied to corsacar saint's topic in The Saints
After this board has been through getting relegated from the Championship, losing 10 points and searching for a new owner 5 years ago, the meltdown this summer was a bit surprising. All the club did was sold a few players for top prices to top clubs, before they got replacements. Let's hope that the doom mongers have learnt that the transfer window works with the top clubs having first dibs on players , then the rest get a look in. As Koeman says, that's football ! Next summer we should have a nice calm approach on here ….... -

Van Gaal or Koeman? Which great Dutch manager would you prefer?
Kingsland Red replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
I'm just working my way through the autobiography of Van Gaal , by Maarten Meijer, picked up at an airport and not a flowing read, having been translated from Dutch. Van Gaal seems to like to build a team around hungry younger players ( 20-23 years old) making a name for themselves in the game; rather than the established 'names' he believes the media focus upon. However, if a player (like Arjen Robben) is prepared to match the work of the youngsters then they will be included. This is hardly the Manure philosophy. He built Ajax in the mid 1990s on this basis and then started the renowned Barcelona's youth system progression into the first team, but was then sacked from Ajax as Technical Director when the board stood behind the first team coach - one Ronald Koeman. -
Dare I suggest, just maybe, our much maligned board have brought in a better manager than Spurs or ManUre managed this summer.

Well we know Poch had no plan B so we didn't manage to turn around going behind last season. Well done RK and the lads .

Redmond not in the Norwich squad tonight…...

Worst attacking performance since Cardiff City at home at the end of last season. Give them time to gell.

Hopefully everyone at the Leverkusen game would have donated on a mobile as text number etc were given out during his video on the big screens.

This thread is interesting as there are so many posters outlining what various players have done to date. I get the impression we have a coach and support staff in place now who prefer working with the whole team as a unit and have little time for prima donnas doing their own thing. If he sees something in the players he's signing as good 'raw material' to work on , his pedigree suggests we should trust him.

In Florence eating gelato !

Someone buzzing around Pelle feeding off his knockdowns is exactly what we need. Quite frankly I have no interest in the cost as we seem to have a decent treasure chest at the moment and I have no reason not to trust Big Ron Koeman's judgement.

I thought he looked like a creative player from his cameo this afternoon, good in the tackle and easy passing. Not sure why he didn't start if Koeman was looking to play his starting XI as we looked better with him and Gaston on for JWP and Isgrove.
