  1. Good on you, life goes on and it's our club, regardless of the comings and goings of owners, players, results etc.
  2. I would expect he has, as I would like to think he remains one of us…….
  3. Therein you have hit on the problem at the top of the English game - the TV income far exceeds the gate income.
  4. Happy Birthday to our talisman, 32 years young.
  5. This . And to avoid it, like all clubs at our end of the league , we require the big investors like the Liebherrs. Clubs like Manure have 'suffered' for years and even set up an alternative club which hovers around the leagues below the conference; Chelsea accommodate laundered monies, Citeh and Arsenal are owned by wealthy global players etc etc. It's either support Saints or a club like Eastleigh, and judging by the numbers through their respective turnstiles, Saints win. You can drop into plenty of local clubs' matches , but from my experience it isn't quite the same gut feeling.
  6. The whole mood on this forum could change when Sunderland get Man City away next round…..
  7. Can't see Guly making the Brazil 22, regardless of where he pays his football.
  8. Ally's Army. Scotland to 1978 Argentina world cup song. Archie Gemmil mazy run goal against Holland. Yep, very bizarre.
  9. Makes our Jos look like Maldini !
  10. Nick , off the top of my head, put on the bench: Dyer, Bridge,Williamson, Surman,JWP, Joe/Matt Mills (which ever you didn't select).
  11. We seem to play the same way home and away. It is how the opposition is set up that is our problem at home. Last night we continuously got to play between the lines and found space all over the pitch as Hull, as the home side, had to attack us rather than sit deep, like say Stoke. If a team's ambition is to come away from St Marys with a point (unlike say Chelsea or Spuds) then we need a quicker attack. What frustrates me at home is when we break our player in possession checks back to allow more of our players to join him. This gives time for teams like Stoke to regroup back behind the ball.
  12. We hung around for about an hour and were told no one was coming, please go now !
  13. Good 1-0 thrashing . Now let's do the same at Sunderland…..
  14. Upgraded for the Arsenal game to the Executive suite and was with several youngsters who were very disappointed. Apart from Cody Cropper who was wheeled through about 45 minutes before kick off, we never saw the anticipated first team player. Apparently Poch doesn't like them doing their tour of the corporates after the match as they are warming down under supervision (?)
  15. Funny game , like a 0-0 draw but with goals. Apart from Lambert's quality free kick, it was a robust workmanlike defensive performance from Stoke with Saints needing a Ramirez run to open them up. Be grateful we don't have to watch Stoke every week.
  16. Poch's mentor and the man credited with the 'pressing game', Marcelo Bielsa, is being lined up for consideration at Swansea. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/feb/05/michael-laudrup-swansea-city-contenders-manager Looking at the other contenders I would think he is the shoe in if they want to continue with the way they are set up to play. Will be interesting to view and contest with our own style.
  17. One of the big disappointments with Adidas has been that Saints shirts do not appear in world wide airport shops or the big sports stores like other clubs wearing Adidas. Whether this is the fault of NC or Adidas I know not.
  18. … and Sky. Bizarre.
  19. In answer to the OP's question, I would add Yoshida, Ramirez, Lovren, and maybe even Schneiderlin and Fonte to those already discussed.
  20. I think the next level is displacing Everton or Tottenham, rather than challenging for the top four. OK, so Cortese's gone but the financial source is still in place. Our problem will be finding players who have the maturity and brains; but also the stamina to play the MP way. I would imagine there is a high burn out rate to playing such a pressing game, and it may be in the course of time a more refined approach is required. Exciting times, without doubt the best period of our recent history.( i.e. since the Premier League started /1992)
  21. Congratulations to a Saints legend. Awesome game today with assists for both other goals.
  22. Lambert, Rodriguez and Lallana were class; Schneiderlin, Davis and Cork never stopped winning the ball back. Superb second half. And all in front of Hodgson. COYR
  23. Good luck Dan and thanks Mate. Proper footballer who did us proud in the Champiobnship. (Contrary to SWF ideas, it is not the player's role to find a better replacement for themselves when they are out of their depth)
  24. After many years of last day rear guard actions fighting relegation, or more recently seeking promotion, maybe a quiet season for once is not a bad thing. Back to where we were in the 1980s and early 90s. I can cope with that for a season or two.
