I watched the game last night, and at the risk of being smug, I'd rather watch Saints who appear to have overtaken the international teams for quality of football. As picked up earlier on this thread, Zaha and Sterling seem incapable of team play, going on runs up blind alleys and losing possession.

Yes, with pitta bread and sonme stuffed vine leaves , perfect !

I have wondered what happened to those two who shot themselves in the foot early in The Don era (?)

I was lucky enough to manage a team in a local cup final at St Marys a few years ago. After taking our sons on a (birthday) tour of The Dell, St Marys changing facilities etc were quality.

A bit late from The Snooze, but the inevitable Begovic article. Another sad Storrie : http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/opinion/pompey-set-to-lose-out-again-on-keeper-1-5666594

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 4-1 Hull City

This. I was exactly the same today, totally irrational, but years of following the Saints and especially that Leeds game have obviously affected me. Good rehab today ! -

Another awesome first half display and apart from a mentally lazy period when we allowed Hull their 15 minutes this was a class performance again. Amusing to see seven players chase down the same ball , breaking away from Hull's second half corner. With a bit of width / spacing out that could have been a great goal, playing around their two back pedalling defenders ! -
I thought he needs a better grip from good old-fashioned 'winter' studs as he seems like bambi on ice today

A very thought provoking article by a war veteran

My grand parents siblings are named on the Menin Gate and 'missing in action' at Thiepval cemetery. Very moving. -

I've just read an excellent book by Jeremy Paxman on the first world war. If Iraq and Afghanistan are hard to justify, WW1 was also a struggle for the politicians, as we declared war on Germany on the basis of a 60 year old treaty, drawn up when most of them were not even born. It was about assisting Belguim if Germany were to invade . Our country was bankrupted in assisting Belguim and France . -
... and the Saints social media feeds. Congratulations , well deserved.

Great to see those avatars with Markus waving to us on such a depressing lowe days thread !

One of my clients is ATS Euromaster (Michelin) and when this idea came to market, it was suggested I got Nitrogen put in my tyres. I would recommend it for longevity of the tyre, fuel consumption, and also for those who rarely check their tyres pressure. The science behind it has been explained to me, but the general scientific idea is that the nitrogen will escape less than air.

One thing I've noticed with this MP side is what they do once they get 2-0 up. Against Fulham, Palace, and to an extent Swansea, the intention changes to ball retention at a slower pace, almost casual with the potential for errors to creep in; rather than going for the jugular with a big score. A high intensity for as long as it takes to get a comfortable lead , then relax and conserve energy.

Have a look at this from the same website - the 'heat' map is very telling. http://www.vivaelfulham.co.uk/articles/talking-tactics-southampton-2-fulham-0-7-316.html -
We are Southampton - we'll dress how we want.

The whole thing is a bit strange - "A day in the life of a corridor", with a fat man moving trollies around.
-
Watching recent England matches I would say the pedestrian pace of the national team moving the ball does not suit our lads, who are fitter and used to a faster pace both physically and mentally.
-
Footfall in that corridor is quite something after the match.
-
If the pitch is still narrow, as in the Delap long throw days, this should suit our narrow approach, (albeit not evident yesterday with Shaw hugging the line).

I beg to your superior knowledge, as I assumed there was not connection, but (under brothers); http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/bob.dunning/sonsand.htm

That first 45 minutes was probably the best I've seen from Saints in the last twenty years - an absolute master class. We were wondering if Fulham had missed pre season fitness training !
