Johnson seems to be going after everyone who doesn’t suck up to him, so not to worry, I’m sure he will sort the BBC out.

Dumbing down has been going on in the media for some time, not just at the BBC. I don’t understand why they broadcast things like Mrs Brown’s Boys, but you can’t blame them wanting to be all things for all people as they have to cater for the masses and not the elite. Yes there are things I wouldn’t watch on the BBC but there are also plenty of things I do watch. The Christine Keeler Trial was excellent recently. I still think they do news and current affairs well and their wildlife programmes are second to none. Each to their own, but I for one are pleased that there is still one broadcaster that isn’t polluted by adverts and is free of people like Murdoch.

One of his con temporise was talking about the amount of abuse he used to get yesterday. Sounds appalling. Still the only footballer to come out as gay. People shouldn’t have to, but until more do it will not be normalised. If rugby players can do it...

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

Good to see rapists being convicted and banged up. It’s just a shame that many of them don’t though. -
Then don’t watch it Whelk. Saw the last episode of Good Omens on BBC2 tonight which was excellent.

It seems I missed another referendum on the purchasing of Trident.
-
I’m not sure if that was ever the case. On a small scale perhaps but prolonged verbal abuse isn’t good. As for bailing out of social media, makes sense but if all your friends are on it still you are still going to get feedback. Add in seeing yourself plastered all over the tabloids when you walk past a news stand and it must be deeply unpleasant. You shouldn’t have to stop using social media. Online abuse should be dealt with. It has no place in a civilised society.

Simple yes or no...Lallana on a free in the summer?

No thanks -
Can we expand this? I have no intention of using nuclear weapons. Can I stop paying for Trident?
-
Nah Weston, I’d be ok with this one. They would advertise it on the BBC.
-
Perhaps we should have a referendum about it?
-
Yes, she says she gets more sense out of her whelk than she does from me!
-
You’d have to ask her Whelk.

On the upside, this will please those who have been called for Redmond to be dropped.

In an ideal world all crimes reported would be taken seriously and investigated. Whilst not up there with murder and sexual assault, burglary and mugging are horrible crimes that need to be dealt with. A guy over the road had someone cover his car with paint a few weeks back. That needs to be dealt with. It’s the start of a slippery slope when you say that certain crimes won’t be dealt with. The resources are being found to build a high speed rail link that many people think is a waste of money. Find the resources to enable the Criminal Justice System to adequately deal with crime in this country.

Thornberry didn't make it. Phew. -
To be fair, he was a great deal younger than me at the time.

I prepared a delicious meal for my wife tonight for Valentines. Starter: prawns, salmon and smoked salmon presented in a sea shell. Main: Venison stake in chocolate butter sauce a with spinach mornay. Desert: Elderflower and pear cheesecake. Washed down with a bottle of fizz. Went down a treat and I have just banked a ton of brownie points. Thank you Waitrose. And all for 20 quid. Bargain!

No wonder Alps doesn’t post much anymore!

Watching the SE news earlier and there was a report on the council in Maidstone stopping the use of monitoring the CCTV cameras in real time due to the expense. Not great. As a side note, they showed some old footage of some guys in white overalls and masks trying to smash in the window of a jeweller with sledgehammers. I was on my lunch break at the time and me and another guy chased them down the road. I had no idea what I thought I was going to do if I caught up with them but thankfully they jumped into a van a drive off before we found out. The police did catch them though. They stopped at a red light and were blocked in before the lights changed!

Sad news. I remember him scoring a screamer for Stoke in our 4-3 win against them at The Dell not long after he left us. Quality player.
-
Indeed hypo, indeed.

I’m not confident about this one. We struggle against teams who sit back and Burnley often turn us over. Be happy with a draw.

Ask the people who brought it up again. Perhaps some people on here are worried about having an Asian in charge of the country’s money?
