There was a brief debate of the local candidates on the local BBC news last night. The Tory candidate, Damian Collins, managed to show horn “Get Brexit done” twice in the first 20 seconds of his brief opening statement and 3 times before he finished. These people clearly haven’t meant a lesson since 2017 when “Strong and stable government” became a standing joke and back fired big time! Given the number of groans you hear in the tv when they trot out their mantra, perhaps they should find a new phrase to brain wash us with?
-
Seriously? Don’t you think Johnson and chums won’t dress it up as a necessity as all a part of “Getting Brexit Done?”
-
In that they were a bunch of drunk right wing morons?

Or maybe just finance it better and not run it down as it has been for the last decade? My wife and I have used it a lot in the last few years and mostly it has been okay. We have had some problems with it recently due to lack of staff. I used the health service in the US a few years ago and it was fine, but expensive. Whilst there I spoke to a lady who had kidney problems but could afford to take time off work as she had no health cover. If the NHS goes we will be left with people in the same situation. And before Batman kicks off again, you only have to look at the numbers of people using food banks and the level of child poverty to see how that could happen.

So because a definite timeline can’t be established, something definitely isn’t going to happen. No wonder Johnson gets so many votes.

No, not certain but believe it is a very strong possibility. As for a date, there will be much dittering and delays involved in the so called oven ready Brexit deal so who knows. But you seem to think that it is going to happen in one go (much as you have swallowed the Get Brexit Done mantra). It will go in bits and pieces as is already happening if you bother to listen to people within the NHS.

I don’t know but if I were you I would give BUPA a ring now just to be on the safe side.

It doesn’t mean to say that it isn’t going to be right at some point. There is no great love in the Tory party for the NHS and now you have people in place who have no qualms about what they do. The fact that discussion have already taken place with pharma companies in the US should be enough to ring alarm bells in the Tory faithful.

We shall see Duckie. Hopefully the Great British public won’t give your people the chance to flog it off.

He denied having met her and suggested that the photo of them together had been doctored.
-
We all know your views on women Duckie.

She said that she had sex with him in two other countries. He consorted with a man who procured girls aged 14 for sex. He claims categorically that he had not met her when there is clear evidence that he did. Sex trafficking is illegal. He is a Prince. But hey, nothing to see here. Makes you wonder why people bother making tv programmes about it.

Of course the NHS is on the table. Talk to people who work for the NHS and they will tell you that bits are gradually being hived off and it is dismantled bit by bit. I saw the same thing happening with the CJS. The Probation service has been outsourced and is a total mess. Vote in a Tory Government with a working majority and you can wave goodbye to an NHS free at the point of entry within the foreseeable future.

I have just watched the Panorama programme. If anyone hasn’t seen it yet I suggest that they do. If you feel that young, vulnerable girls are somehow responsible for being abused, it might make you think again. Filmed before the Prince Andrew interview, parts of his interview have been cut in to give this programme a more rounded account of the accusations and counter accusations. It really doesn’t show HRH in a good light.
-
Good to see you keeping the cross of St George flying. Why do you feel it necessary to abuse people who don’t share your extreme politics all of the time? Give me an “angry little socialist” over a nasty alt right racist any day of the week.

I may be wrong but I thought that he (allegedly) had sex with her on one occasion in an American state where the age of consent is 18 and she was 17.
-
I started this thread because Prince Andrew was all over the news. If you have any other ideas that is down to the way your own brain works.
-
She was groomed and exploited in the same way that Asian gangs have groomed and exploited young girls here. Thing is, you don’t see Tommy Robinson skulking around outside Buckingham Palace trying to out Prince Andrew as a pedo.
-
She was a young girl, clearly out of her depth and being used by people who exploited her naivety.

Apparently his toe is still a problem so likely to be on the bench again tomorrow.

Donald tells us that he wouldn’t want the NHS even if it were handed it to him on a silver plater. Somehow you just know the opposite is true. That’s the beauty of listening to congenital liars. Listened to what they say and what they actually mean is the exact opposite.

I do agree about their proposed spending plans. It does sound fantastic but where is the money coming from? Is he going to plant magic money trees along with the others? Over the years I have shifted my views on things like privatisation/nationalisation. I used to be pro privatisation but having seen what it has done to the railways etc I am now in favour of renationalisation. We need massive reinvestment in this country’s infrastructure. The NHS needs to be properly funded. The welfare system needs a complete overhaul. It is good that Labour have ambitious plans to address all these issue but, as is usually the case, if they got into power, once they have a look at the books the spending plans will need to rethought. I am still favouring a Labour/LibDem coalition. That should rein in some of the more “out there” plans. The polls seem to be moving back to a hung parliament again.

It is a shame that Armstrong gets injured just as he starts to get a run in the team. He could be an important player for us. Given our poor form at home and the fact that Norwich are showing a bit of form, I am going for a draw.

The recent series on that start of WW2, World On Fire, was a good watch and did an excellent job on showing the effect of war on ordinary people. It also highlighted the problems faced by the Polish which are often forgotten - not least that they were also invaded by the Russians. The Line Of Duty was first class. There is plenty of good stuff if you look for it.
