Fair point. I still think he is doing the right thing in letting them get on with it and not pressing for an extension, but as you say, they can do what they want anyway - deal or no deal!

It looks to me that Starmer is being very shrewd and is letting them hang themselves. He makes the point that the Government have said that they can do this by 31st December and he is saying go ahead and let’s see if you can. By not seeking an extension, as would seem perfectly reasonable given the circumstances, the government are putting pressure on themselves.

That doesn’t alter my point does it.

Someone just sent me a vid of Tommy Robinson kicking off over a police van parked up catching speeding motorists. He says to them go and catch proper criminals and asks them if what they are doing is “essential work”. Yes Tommy, the police catching law breakers is essential work. FFS.

Little wonder that the death rate is so high in this country. Let’s hope that person you put at risk is ok.

At a time when it wasn’t cool to be able to play an instrument proficiently, The Stranglers were a decent bunch of musicians. Dave Greenfield’s keyboards gave them a Doors type of sound. They also had that wonderful rumbling bass sound. Top band.

Another good series on at the moment is Breeders. The first episode is a bit full on and sweary, but it settles down into something recognisable for all those who have struggled with young kids. Again, a lot of dark humour.

Dave Greenfield the keyboard player from The Stranglers has died aged 71. In hospital with a heart condition but contracted covid. One of my favourite bands of that period. RIP

Perhaps you could tell us hypo as you sprung up when I posted here? It really isn’t difficult. The righties don’t like anyone with a hint of a social conscience expressing an opinion on Internet forums (anywhere else for that matter). But this thread is about something else, so can we stick to that?
