Benjii, we can't force people to invest or take players off our hands. Skacel made a decsion NOT to go to Ispwich...not our fault. The impression I got was that the Board were woking hard to get the wage bill down and were getting a lot of stick for it. I don't call that laziness. They did get the cost base down but obvioulsy Barclays lost patience. What were the Board supposed to do? Slagged for playing youth. Slagged for not playing the experience pros and then slagged for keeping them. I assume that there were regular meetings with the bank. Why then were the VBOard not told to sell no matter what the price was? It doesn't sound like that happened.

Weren't we told that Lowe being here was the reason people weren't investing? Surely now they will be queuing up to pour money into the club???

I am gutted. I thought we were over the worst and last week's news was a real sickener and a low point in the history of our club. We have been down this road before. Remember, be careful what you wish for? Well those who wished for Adminstration have their wish and goodness only knows what that means for SFC in the future.

I don't think people will be unhappy if we do a Leicester. With our luck though we are more likely to do a Leeds! Whatever happens it is likely to be a long way back, with no guarantee that we will ever get "back". It would be great to get a new dawn at SFC but right now this is the lowest point in the the 43 years I have been supporting this club and I am finding it very hard to find anything to be optimistic about.

Don't worry FC, the Lowe excuse will run for some time yet as it did last time he left. Some people will always need to blame someone or something and Lowe is the perfect fall guy. No matter that Wilde and Crouch made a mess of the finances themselves. The next people to come in will get the same treatment that teh Wilde Bunch did. Because they are not Lowe they will be welcomed as saviours. I just hope the next bunch truly are saviours and not another well meaning bunch without one iota of nous when it comes to running a football club.

Which is what worries me enormously. Someone comes in when we are going down the toilet. Where were they when we needed help to stay in the Prem? Where were they when we needed to bring in some cash earlier in the year? It will be much harder to bring this club back from the third tier of English football, but they have sat back and waited until that is virtually the case. Thanks guys.

Ottery, I am always up for a bit of gallows humour but I doubt if we could even sign the likes of Ali Dia nowdays!!!
-
Perhaps Steve Godwin's nephew will step in? Seriosuly though, given the drivel written on here do we really want a bunch of well meaning supoorters running the show? Most would fall out over who was the best right back. This whole thing worries me greatly. For months we have had names like Saltz floated to whet our appetites. Where were these people when we were stuggling to saty in the Prem. Where were these people when the Wilde Bunch rode into town and blew the cash? How can they sit back and watch the club vanish from sight before they decided to do anything for the club? Steve, I don't get this something better than nothing. Wilde and Crouch were supposed to be better than Lowe weren't they? We need the right people at this club otherwise this will all happen again. The next decision is crucial. Let it be the right thing for SFC lomg term please!!!!

I don't care how long as it takes so long as we get the right people in. Look what happened last time!

I was under the impression that we were trying to off load players. The trouble is, when clubs know you are in trouble they are going to offer low money, if anything at all. Thing is, wasn't Lowe slated for trying to shift players? Now he is being slated for not shifting them????
-
LOL, says it all. I wonder if Alpine's boss knows that he is paying for his on line therapy?

It's my birthday and we got our club back!!!

I wouldn't pop the chapers just yet mate. Last we we got our club back things hardly worked out brilliantly did they? Let's see who is waiting for us this time..... -
That's what happens when you hang around with the NF Tris!
-
Duncan, we all know that the only time you would like to be behind Lowe is if he was standing on the edge of a cliff..... Perhaps there is a new one? The Fitzhugh Syndrome. Someone who develops an obsessive hatred for someone who runs a football club?

So now any bugger can play on the hallowed turf
sadoldgit replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Oh dear, old Victor Meldrew is at it again. Moan moan moan. It is not as if we don't need the cash is it? And tell me Alpine, what do you have against Chavs? Is it okay if well healed people do it or are you just a snob? I have known kids play on the pitches of the teams they support and that feeling and experience has never left them. There is no such thing as "hollowed turf". If stadiums can be used to bring in cash from other sources why is that a problem? I saw many a concert at the old Wembley stadium - didn't detract from the Cup Final one bit. You are really scrapping the bottom of the barrell now Alps. You really do strike me as someone who sits in a darkened room desparately trying to find another reason to slag the club off. You really are a most miserable individual Alpine. -
Were Watford relegation rivals when Raisal went there? Even if so, if he hadn't have gone somewhere quickly we could have faced administration earlier and lost 10 points.
-
Administration sooner I expect! Really, where were we supposed to get that kind of money from?

Spot on Weston. Every day it is the same old same old. Same threads from the same people barking on with their same agendas. I don't bother to come on much now because I know exactly what is going to be said and by whom. The negativity just wears you down. Whether we will stay up or not I don't know. What I do know is that I will hope for the best until the outcome is decided. If that makes me "Happy Clappy" then yay for me. I also know that if we do go down this place with be full of even more negativity and recriminations. When things are at their lowest ebb you need support and positivity even more than ever but you just know that will not happen.

At least we scored the best goal of the game. Doesn't it feature in a footy movie with Ian McShane? God bless Nick Holmes. -
Given our home form this season I would say it is a good thing!
-
For goodness sake, give it a rest Tris. It is almost as if you are wanting us to get relegated. If we go down then by all means knock yourself out and have a field day on here about all the dreadful people that brought about our demise - but until then why don't you try and get behind the club? Ever heard of the phrase "The Enemy Within?"
-
I think you added an "o" by mistake?
-
The whole season is made up of "defining moments". There is usually a point in most games when they are won or lost. Even the best player miss relatively easy chances. Give the bloke a break.

My recollection is that when news of the Dutch duo leaked out there was a lot of fuss about the suspected appointment. Whilst all that was kicking off Burley was a late entrant to the race for the job and was given it on Woodward's say so. Still what ever the truth of the matter, Lowe is not here any more and Wotte is.
