  1. It's exactly the same as usual. Reed and Wilson will handle both players being bought and the manager, partnership or no partnership.
  2. @JWTelegraph: Southampton have not dropped complaint to Premier League. PL not involved in discussions today and not decided yet whether to investigate
  3. Been all downhill since start of 12/13, haven't been promoted since then
  4. or rather she was never worth that?
  5. Contrary to popular belief, we've not actually sold Van Dijk yet. It'd be a minor miracle if we had considering there hasn't been a bid, and if he does go he'll go for nigh-on £70m. It's either that or he doesn't go. If we done "sod-all" to keep our players, surely we would put a far lower price tag on him and wouldn't have stuck him on a new contract a year into his original five year deal. Manchester City may come in with a bid north of £25m for Bertrand, but as it has been rumoured he has wanted to go for quite some time, that's a very good price for a 28 year old left back. It's understandable he'd want to go given the wages on offer, Champions League football and a chance to play under Guardiola, but sticking to a price that we can ultimately decide because he was stuck on another long-term contract last summer is hardly doing sod-all either. For the transfer activity being so late, you can't say it'll be the same this summer as the window, er, hasn't actually opened yet. It opens on Friday. The management change hasn't been quick, but given the players don't return from holiday until June 26th, wouldn't you rather we take time sorting a proper replacement, instead of plumping for your ultra-ambitious pick of Gordon Strachan who is hardly wanted by Scotland fans, let alone any Premier League club. Last summer was a poor one, I'll readily admit that. But how you can say it's the same this summer when it hasn't even happened yet is absolutely crazy.
  6. It's the first week of June. How can you possibly judge how we've done business this window when it doesn't end for another 12 weeks?

  8. Hope you don't alert FIFA's transfer police to this then: http://www.insidefutbol.com/2017/01/26/southampton-reach-personal-term-agreement-with-west-brom-target/323437/
  9. Personally, I think he'll go in a years time. As that piece says if he's worth £60m now he'll be worth that in a years time given contract, age and how good he is; not to mention the fact it seems three clubs are interested so makes sense to play them off each other at the very least. No point selling now unless they get a stupidly big offer, say £75m.
  10. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/15329166.No___60m_bid_for_van_Dijk/ Saints have responded...
  11. That 20% can be negotiated, mind. Remember a report saying we didn't give Bournemouth their full % for Lallana, but paid at least a proportion of Boruc's wages when he went on loan there.

    Puel out

Puel is a very good coach as his CV shows, and even this year will finish with Saints finishing 8th and a cup final, which on paper is good by any Southampton manager's standards. But I don't want him to be our manager next season. I get the argument that the quality of the squad isn't nearly as strong as it has been since 12/13, but he is ultimately responsible for their performances which in a large proportion of the season have not been good enough. We haven't scored in 20 of the 50 games this season, and in 19 home league games we've scored 17; 9 of which came in three games, so 8 goals in 16 games. Pretty grim viewing by any Premier League club's standards, let alone a club expected to finish around the top ten. Is he who I want to be Saints manager? No. Does it stop him being a good coach with a good CV? No. He might be boring in his demeanour but he comes across as a decent bloke and with a family struggling to adapt to England by the sounds of it, I wish him well back in France and in the future.
  14. A statement on Puel, or a statement on how Jack Stephens and Sam McQueen will be worth £50 million plus each in next two years?
  15. Nope, and given the links with CBs neither would Saints I'd imagine.
  16. Just league.
  17. Might not be a holiday, what with the links with Semedo.
  18. Thomas Tuchel woahhhh (x2) He comes from West Germany he really hates Pompey *clap clap clap*
  19. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-receive-virgil-van-dijk-10530922 I take it this is what was meant..
  20. £7m is peanuts for all but the newly promoted premier league clubs these days. Paid that for Gardos who was never more than back-up.
  21. Think Blackburn winning 12 league games all season had rather more of a damaging effect..
  22. Can someone give me a reason why they want Garry Monk and Beattie apart from the fact they played for Saints? Genuinely. Monk did an okay job at Swansea, kept them up but won 1 game in 11 before being sacked, before doing a fairly decent job at Leeds but after looking to be certainties for playoffs finished seventh. He hasn't got a track record of bringing through youth, he hasn't got a track record of attacking football and he hasn't worked in the same transfer structure Saints have. So why the clamour for them?
