If a player with no better offers financially or sporting-wise doesn't want to sign for a club in the Europa League, in the top half of the Premier League and with a state-of-the-art training ground because he's not heard of the manager, then you really have to question whether they are the right person for Saints.

I know Ryan injured his knee, but I think Slattery had an operation in January that ruled him out for the season.

Done his ACL or broken his leg hasn't he? Was a pretty nasty injury, but I can't quite remember exactly what it was.
