Considering Dave Watson was basically in charge of scouting and choosing goalkeepers, the fact that Mouez Hassan seems to be Puel's choice seems to be a big change.

It's called business. If he went in offering £20m straight away as the first offer, Napoli would raise the price to £25m. Start off low and work towards the middle. Napoli won't want to be paying his wages whilst he's not even in the squad, so even though Saints need a striker they're in arguably a better position. Get it done, but on our terms.

Thing is 4 of his 9 goals were penalties and another one come from a corner. I'd argue although he scored goals, he didn't help our attacking play and would mess up a few good moves because of a poor pass or his lack of pace; Lambert and Pelle could get away with it because of their link-up play. If we're gonna sign a striker, I'd want someone who can score goals but not affect how we play as much as he does.

I still cannot believe that people seem to think Saints have been "lucky" in how they've kept in the top ten despite losing players- it's almost as if watching Dušan Tadić for four years might give them a reasonable idea of whether he could replace Adam Lallana... Virgil would have joined in the full knowledge that we'd be a stepping stone to the top, just like he joined Celtic for a step up, and Saints make a huge profit from having a superb CB for 2-3 seasons, giving the club plenty to spend on the next Van Dijk like they did for Alderweireld and Lovren before that.. Tell me what the disadvantage is in that?

I'd rather he got ignored and the crowd put their effort into backing our own team, but that's about as likely as Maya Yoshida winning Fan's Player of the year.
