  1. I'd call it pragmatism.
  2. Is it possible that Tonda could do something with Downs to make him into a half-decent player? BBD seems to have done Ok at Derby and scored goals for Blackburn, maybe he'll improve here under a different coach. We still need to strengthen whatever happens to those two.
  3. I'd be happy with a freeze which, allowing for inflation, is about a 3% reduction.
  4. Probably, yes. What often gets overlooked is that they pay more in fees than UK students so they are of significant benefit to the UK economy not just in fees but in their everyday living expenditure.
  5. Not quite that simple. They don't all graduate and go home. A student visa is for 2 or 3 years. About 60% get new visas for post-graduate studies or employment. After 5 years you can apply to remain permanently, Prior to 2023 some were dropping out of their degree programs and getting work visas as it was seen as an easy route to staying permanently. This loophole has now been closed and they need to complete their degree if the they want a new visa.
  6. If they weren't then the last year's net migration figures of 171000 would be -229000.
  7. If you look at the destinations of all those leaving, the top 3 countries are Poland, Romania and Bangladesh. Many who came in pre-Brexit have made a bit of money and are going back home where they will have better standard of living than their peers.
  8. "Robert Jenrick has asked who granted the Belfast attacker a five-year visa to remain, before quickly realising it was him. Jenrick was the government’s Immigration Minister in 2023 when the attacker was granted leave to remain in the UK, a fact he appears to have conveniently forgotten over the last 48 hours. “Oh shit, that was me wasn’t it?” said former immigration minister Robert Jenrick. “Okay, well that makes things slightly tricky for me. I’ve literally just announced Reform would ban visas for anyone coming from Sudan. People are going to think I’m lying again. We don’t want that, do we? “I suppose if I keep lying they might just believe I had nothing to do with letting the attacker stay in the UK in the first place. Yes, that’s it. I’ll act like it was nothing to do with me, and that it was the current government’s fault it happened. Reform voters will believe any old tripe we feed them. “In fact, I bet if I’m really savvy about it I could probably convince Reform supporters that Keir Starmer was actually immigration minister in 2023. Obviously a quick Google search and having the slightest bit of common sense would expose my lie. But hey, that’s not something I really have to worry about with this lot, is it? “God, I love Reform.”
  9. Over 400000 are students without which a number of UK universities would be in financial trouble.
  10. It was a lot more fun than the season that followed.
  11. Rupert Lowe seems to think so.
  12. Anyone can cross into Northern Ireland. He was given leave to remain by Suella Braverman.
  13. I've always thought that there was a very simple solution to people who abuse hospital staff. Throw them out.
  14. He's only got 38%
  15. We stuck with him through his horrendous long-term injuries and got him playing regularly again and off to the World Cup. Hopefully he might think that he owes up something.
  16. I see that one of the men charged with throwing traffic cones at police refused to come to court as he was in the cells "crying his eyes out". Good to see that we have such brave and committed individuals protecting out rights and freedoms.
  17. So you have no evidence, it's just your opinion.
  18. Show us evidence that it's a media fabrication. Musk admitted that it happened but blamed it on the users and is now facing multiple law suits, which is strange if the problem doesn't exist. Still waiting for your evidence that the police would try to cover up the stabbing.
  19. Are you also happy about Musk creating Grok which created 3m sexualised images of women and small girls in a period of 11 days? What evidence have you that the stabbing would have been covered up? The media contact the police on a daily basis for reports of local activity. Would the boy's parents have kept quiet if the police tried to cover up? What about the trial?
  20. The 999 call reported a racial assault. This was backed up by the relatives of the Sikh guy at the scene so that was all that the police knew. As the judge said, it's not unknown for perpatrators to feign injury to avoid being cuffed. As soon as they realised that he was injured, they released him and performed CPR.
  21. This is part of the Judge's summing-up. The pathologist said that nothing could have been done to save him as the internal bleeding was so bad.
  22. Alfie's assistant, George Rees-Julian has moved on to pastures new. So there's a vacancy if anyone's interested.
