Totally agree he always gave his best and on occasion he was the player that made the difference. Ultimately he wasn’t quite good enough which isn’t his fault and he will likely do well at his new club.

Maybe the keeper will go up in the last minute and score, lightening doesn’t strike twice right? Sadly I can’t make it which is annoying hopefully for those that do it will be better than the 2007 game when we could have played to the end of time and still not scored!

Maybe by the final test they will realise the difference between being positive/aggressive and playing wildly uncontrolled hook shots with 3 or 4 men in the deep waiting for it! Definitely something gone in behind the scenes they had a great season and would have one the league most years with the points they amassed. Seems crazy to unsettle the team going into the championship but there has been tension with the board before and the owner is a bit bonkers.

If Che is happy to give us a season in the Championship we should be doing everything we can to keep him. He is a proven goal scorer at this level which is exactly what everyone is saying we need and we know how much they cost!

There is no magic formula as there is always risk involved in any deal as football players are people not machines so sometimes it doesn’t work out. The whole point in data is to use it as part of the decision making process at the end of the process will always be a compromise as you can’t always get the players you want at the price you can afford. Using data well is an essential part of football but it won’t stop the club buying bad player or appointing the wrong managers the human element is always there to mess things up!

Totally agree, he is a brilliant player for a club at our level but clearly isn’t on the big boys radar or he would have been long gone. These media stories are just noise to fill pages and get clicks in reality JWP will go for mid to high 30’s to a decent but not stellar club like West Ham/Spurs. The absolute best he could hope for is a bit part player at Liverpool purely because they are in such dire need of midfielders this summer.

Who’s going to buy him for anything like what we paid or are you suggesting we should give him away? Tall Paul has a chance of being a successful striker at championship level there are plenty of examples of outstanding championship strikers who have failed to make the step up (Armstrong, Adams, Billy Sharp, Jordan Rhodes etc). Buying someone proven at that level will cost a fortune top level championship strikers don’t come cheap just look at what we paid for Adams and Armstrong!

Swap deals haven’t really been a thing for years, there is always talk of it in the press but it just doesn’t happen even obvious ones you’d think were swaps were conducted as separate transfers like when we sold Bridge and got Le Saux and similarly when Kevin Davies went to Blackburn and we got Beattie.

It is certainly over if he is playing championship football. If he goes to a premiership side and plays at the top of his game he at least has a chance. I’m pretty certain he will go even if I hope he doesn’t!

I’d be looking for a couple of years in the MLS if I was Theo, easy money to live somewhere nice and wind down his career. Then retire into punditry, he’s always been well spoken and come across well in interviews etc and he still has the hint of star dust.

Nobody is about to give us half our money back on Tall Paul, he has done the square root of naff all since we signed him, our best hope is he turns out to be a mitrovic after a couple of seasons in the championship other wise we can kiss good bye to that transfer fee in it's entirety! Same goes for Orsic anyone thinking we are getting more than a nominal fee for him at the minute is dreaming the lad hasn't looked like a football player since we signed him.

To be honest I’d be amazed if our under 13’s GK is any worse than GB or AM! Arguing over which is worse is like debating if it’s better to be punched or kicked in the balls, neither is a decent option! We’ve twice been burned signing young keepers from city let’s hope we’ve either learnt our lesson or the old third time lucky thing kicks in!

Currently I would say yes, Lavia has shown incredible potential this season and could go in to be a better player, could also fizzle out into nothing. JWP has been consistently good for years!

I don't think anyone here thinks he should be in England's starting 11 do they? I certainly don't! He should as he is be in and around the squad and I think he has been unlucky not to get more caps, if he put up similar numbers at a bigger club he would no doubt be selected more often.

Those in this thread saying they hope he leaves and trying to paint JWP as a poor player need to go stand in the corner for a bit and think about how dense they are being. I'm fully aware he is not KDB but he is a class above every other midfielder at the club and would be one of the very very top players in the Championship, if he is dumb/loyal enough to stay another season it will be the best piece of business we do this summer. Seriously look at his numbers he has been outstanding for us consistently for years, actually appears to give a damn about the club and would walk into the teams at at least 14/15 other clubs in the premier league let alone the championship. All he lacks is that extra 10% that would make him world class, if he has been blessed with a little pace and a trick or two we would have lost him within a season to one of the big four.

Everyone should be judged by their actions and words sadly it’s not hard to find huge swathes of the current government fail that judgement!

Can’t believe Bazunu doesn’t feature in more of these lists, the guy is absolutely stealing a living as a goal keeper let alone a first choice one at a top flight club! Lyanco is a shoe is as he is just utterly garbage and I don’t think has put in more than one decent game in his entire time here. The third spot is tricky as so so many could fill it but I’m going AA just because we bought him as a striker and he scores even less than che! Maybe he will find his level with us next season and boss the championship but I’m not convinced!
