:lol:If the new site where a lot of the posters who left here, is anything to go by ,you need to have the owner and the other protagonists displayed along the top of the banner. They are the heroes, sod the players who have represented us LOL
-
if he's good enough for Koeman then i will be more than happy to accept his judgement. I personally feel he is a decent player and with a bit more PL playing time he could be decent for us
-
we need wickets that let the ball move off the pitch. Having a pitch that nullifies our bowlers but help their faster bowlers is madness. Depressing to see us not standing up to them and now we look a sad bunch. I can't see us getting our confidence back and the Aussies who were down are now full of confidence for the next test
-
What a bunch of fools. I can't imagine that the Aussies would prepare any pitches that would help the opposition.
-
lol, perhaps he forgot the League cup as well
-
true, how many players have been called superstars and then not made it over the years. We know MS is a star but he hasnt really been tested in the spotlight of the massive club Man U are.
-
On the southampton past and present thread they ask where is this? It is Northam road ,where Cobwebs (shipping memorabilia) and the desk centre (pompey fans) are now
-
if hes any good he will be the only decent Toilet at FP

its amazing how short memories fans have. I vividly recall fans singing his name and willing him to score in the Testimonial game he played at the Dell. His big fault was that he played to the rules and did not go down Pompeys route. We budgetted for the Pl (the money was very low then of course) but could not survive with the players contracts and costs of running the club in the lower leagues. RL mis calculated and many of us did also (including me)when he wanted to bring Hoddle back he listened to the fanbase. I was very anti Hoddle but i suspect he would have kept us up. Thankfully he didnt as Lowe would still be at the club and we would not have had the Leibherrs
-
yep Saints at the Dell would have been a fantastic appeal to billionaires pre the PL. The stadium and facilities, that were of massive appeal to the Liebherrs would be a major reason why we were bought out of admin. Had we been at the Dell we would have been where Pompey. My 3 posts are up for today

there is not a club where you cannot name some duff signings. As for Bale, I doubt there is anyone who woud have thought he would be 100m player. I dont think he was responsible for the writeoff on him anyway, was it not the Wilde bunch?
-
I was thinking on similar lines this morning. It is a credit to you Duncan that you post such a thing as you were not always a fan of Lowes Lowe was many things but if you look at the current owners model it is just what Lowe was intending to do for us. Sadly having a posh English accent and also the name of Rupert never helped his cause.

This bag is going to be bulging even more when you sign for United

I agree but we patently cant or wont keep a player who wants to leave.I would love the club to make a stand and put a player in the reserves to rot, but no club will do so as money is the factor.
-
I thought we were told that no player will leave unless we are happy for them to go, so that would infer that we could enforce a player to stay. It is also amusing that most of the time we are told the the Echo is full of rubbish and then when it suits we suck up their story re TA as chapter and verse. The legal route soon was pushed under the carpet. Also last pre season we were told that all the transfer money in would be spent on players ( not withstanding the 30m war chest and Sky money) We are now told that we need to sell before spend. The fans always are taken as mugs and whatever side of the fence we fall in, we are being played. I am calm about the lack of players coming in at present and will give the club a bit of slack, but come the start of the season if they have not bought some quality we may regret it. Had we purchased a couple of quality players in January the CL could well have been obtainable

All clubs have arrogant bellends. We have fans who give it the big one and go on rivals sites. Spurs are a massive club. Under performers but we have to face it, we are a selling club and Spurs can buy who they want from us if they pay the money
-
Mainly fair. I dont dislike Spurs, I do Liverpool as I grew up with lots of mates who were Liverpool fans as they ruled Division 1 (now EPL) for a long time. I have little worry about that with Spurs. They are the Saints of London, nearly getting there but as they get close the bigger and better clubs take the better players away. I like Poch and feel he will do well, but you will not finish above Arsenal or the like for a longtime as you like Saints will sell the players who can take you there. Time will tell if Toby will cut it at Spurs but i have never rated centre halves who are more worried about their hair than counting their scars on their face. Good luck to you and you may laud over us for another season but at the end of the day, you are just us but a couple of places up the league. Enjoy the Europa league as that is where you will be for years. i personally dont care for European football but i know you wannabees do

those companies did try to do something about their actions. The Greeks have done nothing in the last 5 years to try and rectify things. Im not sure i want to pay higher taxes so that the Greeks can retire early on index linked pensions and also don't think they should pay their taxes. Iam happy for the EEC to try and reduce their debt, but not if we are going to be back here in a couple of years time
-
that is true but if we were talking about a player choosing between Norwich, Derby, Swansea, Leicester, Palace or Spurs we would not blink an eye if he joined Spurs. Spurs have millions of fans around the world and do have that extra sparkle we dont. It is annoying but we are just a provincial club of large size, not one in the lights. Bridesmaids and only once the bride
-
Why is dealing in football transfers so different to normal life to fans? If you agree to buy a car and sign a contract at a lower price, why then go and pay a lot more if there is other interest? It seems to me the legal team have messed up as they misread or misunderstood the exact terms of the contract. The club must have believed that their position was watertight and so if they wished to get him they could as soon as AM had not paid the compensation in time.
-
Perhaps they had the deal agreed and signed before we woke up to what was going on. The club obviously thought they had 'An option to purchase' and so didnt need to chase. Somewhere somebody got it wrong and Spurs have benefited. The ither surprise is that no iother club came in for him.
-
sounds like a post from somebody in the club/PR who knows what happened. it all seems plausible. I now believe we will hear that Toby has left, sometime this morning. A I still wonder about the timing of the departure of the CFO by mutual consent. I dont really expect somebody to leave such a job for no good reason

after following Saints for nearly 50 years it has always been the way that our better players leave. Even after all these years it is hard to bear and our position in the food chain is below Spurs. Therefore we as Saints fans have to get used to our better players leaving.
