You'd think so but they no doubt have a fire proof alibi to win the judge over. Nervous times in the offices at the club.
-
Crikey, was it cash and coupons for their club shop?
-
you seem unusually cheery and showing no caution today Phil, why would that be? Pretty confident that they will finally get judgement day, the club and officials, that is
-
thats what I dont get. How can they now at this late moment ask for adjournment to compile a defence! (as stated in one of the snippets from the papers today) It shows a lack of respect/complacency that they would not need to do anything as they would walk over HMRC

Id never seen a picture of W******d without his hat and makeup before

RL was assured by the London lawyers that there was no way that the club would be deducted 10 points, due to the way the club was set up. How those skates think theirs should be waived is beyond a joke.
-
if it meant that Pompey not paying the HMRC that his and sister the mother to his children was not going to get her dole and credits he'd think differently.
-
their reporter thinks the Arab is still after them Phil.Lets hope the 3rd one doesnt ruin the fun

perhaps he did mean Wendy Richards

a bit imflammarory saying 'St Fairies'. I wonder if mr Frost will make himself known on saturday at the said venue.
-
The confideniality thing set the alarm bells ringing. Clapham etc will be far more versed ion these things, but the revenue trying to keep a lid on the negotiations is all to stop other companies pointing their finger and saying why not do that for us.
-
It was only a 90k debt and so they probably scraped that in from their cup tickets for saturday

Thanks, I saw no mention anywhere about the appeal and so assumed that it had not gone ahead and another one of PS's statements that have not come to pass. I understand the HMRC reluctance to wind a PL club up. the pressures ust be intense. A football club gets looked upon you and me I suppose but a sense of unjustice may prevail. As fror reading the Pompey fans saying they should be a special case and not getting the penalty.....would they then accept their winning name being scrubbed from the FA cup at the same time?
-
the HMRC asking for confidentiality would suggest that they will do a deal today. Otherwise why would they say anything to tyr and keep Pompey from talking.
-
there might be something in it, Ive just seen kate Adie in a flak jacket outside SMS As for the opening post, the poster was only doing what thought best and warning people. All for the best intentions and so give him a break

I thought yesterday Pompey were to have their appeal. That was to the court not the HMRC was it not? Why the meeting with the HMRC if Pompey were so sure of the appeal being won? I accept that they will wriggle out and have felt so for some time. I can see the revenue taking the 1.8m on the terms of default again and then goodbye. Since the winding up order the tax and vat owed must have been increased and funnily enough 1.8m is about the money due on the 2 sales made in the transfer window. That would be the money received for those sales.

Realistically , we have the best chance to win the JPT, so its that 1 for me, obviously beating Pomey (not thinking of winning the cup) the play offs would be an amazing bionus
-
but when people who go to games have a differing view you get all defensive and then say well' merrington said this or the commentator said that' I accept you make your posts out of frustration as you want us to do well, but it does get pretty irritating after every game or every manager change. The people who should be critical are the people who put their hard money into the club, they have the right to the opinion.ML is the man who should be respected to make the correct decision ,as ultimately he has put his money where his mouth is. Have an opinion and share it, it makes the site more enjoyable, but how about showing some support and positivity to the club for a change.

I was at a do today (details a tad fuzzy as there was a bit of champs) and I was sat next to a corporate lawyer who has done a bit of work with football clubs. I asked him about his thoughts on the Pompey saga and he said he only knew what was in the media. he did say that the court judges were very smart people who have heard it all before, and would not accept any nonsense. I went away not knowing how he thought the case would go, lawyers!!! Basically Football clubs are riddled with dodgy stuff and the worst at paying their debts, from PL down. The HMRC really do pursue these things and would go for the jugular. Pompey will appoint a top man to argue their case, a top mind (above a barrister, I cant recall the name) Apparently there are a lot of IP's (insolvency practitioneers) who want to get to the club to really look at the books and find out where the funds have gone. If he didnt wish to wind them up immediately the judge could appoint accountants to see if they could get the club on a sound footing. Of course then they could delve fully into the accounts and see what really has been going on.(any shredding machine suppliers on the unpaid list lol) It would save the club but the skeletons would be revealed and the penalties from the authorities and the league would follow if there was wrong doing and in turn was proved. Forgive the muddle but I had had quite a bit of fizz and so some of this may be incorrect or badly described.

Perhaps with all the talk , the players realised deep down that the play offs were going to be difficult and the way to get to Wembley was through the JPT. I know that is a low target but as a fan i want ot go to Wembley that is quite possible wheras making the play off finals is/was always going to be tough. The JPT is a distraction, but if we get to Wembley the city will feel good and whilst it is only a tin pot trophy the ZDS all those years ago was a great fun day

and then you'd criticise because we won 3-1 .......Remember when we were winning every game by that score? All those posts complaining (not you on that point)about us letting in goals and of course Davis's inability to be a keeper. I think we should give AP time and if this time next season we are not in position to make the CCC then start questioning the manager.I doubt any team we put out if we were manager would play perfectly each game. The players are human and their minds are not on Exeter game. I suspect most of the fans did not have that game as a priority this week. Wrong i know but human nature.

I think Phil will be best to give opinion on this. He normally dismisses these things

Does anybody know how the Winding up court works. I assume that if the owners of Pompey say they can keep the business running they have to put concrete evidence down on the table. My experience of people who avoid paying me over the years are normally very plausible and fanyastic at making you feel they really will come up with the goods. I expect the court will have sen many more of these people than i have and so should see through the talk.
-
No but Im amzed the moaners were not using him as a stick to beat AP with

My grandfather was at D-day landings and also one of the first to get to Belsen. Sadly he died when i was 6 but he would never talk about his war experiences as that generation never liked talking about it. it must have left some terrible mental scars
