  1. What a great result. We were up for it from the start. Everyone worked for each other. We were narrow giving Blackpool plenty of width but we dealt with that threat. Young centre back combination of Seaborne & Martin was a delight. I have been a big critic of Schneiderlin - He was majestic today. Best game of the season Likewise of Puncheon - Credit to him he worked hard in the centre of midfield, clearly his best position. If that is what we are going to get I have changed my mind. Keep him Well done to the whole squad and the Manager. I came away from the ground buzzing
  2. Just come off the phone from his family. Told them of the positives on this thread. They are delighted with the reaction Interesting team selection today but I cannot give details. Just to say Adam starts unless late changes so supporters will have a chance to let him know of their delight.
  3. Oh I think the fans have made that obvious
  4. I knew he was waiting for Cortese to approach but not when. Before Christmas no approach had been made but he was cool about it. He did turn down an offer from Saints in the close season but Cortese just promised to revisit, which he clearly did. Will not know the details as I will not breach a freindshiip by asking. Adam wants to play Premier football. His family are realistic that the best was of achieving that is by stepping stones playing regular football and that means via the Championship. They are all great Saints Suppporters including Adam and that helps. Andrew was unlucky in that he was sold to keep the club going. He would have preferred to stay. Sheff Utd and Wolves came in for him and he was sold on Wolves. An early injury did not help. Lambert of Norwich went after him even going out to see him to get his signatture whn he was on honeymoon. Promise of regular football was the draw. Although it was less money with appearance and win bonus there was very little in it. Unortunately he has suffered a bad knee injury and out at least until Feb, possibly longer.
  5. I am with you on this one. Hate seeing Saints lose but we have bigger fish to fry. I aslo think that we will lose even with Blockpool fielding reserves. These are players capable of playing premier football or they would not be part of the set up.
  6. I have repeatedly said on here that Lallana wanted to play for Saints and was not worried about the lack of a contract offer. He knew the right offer wold be made and so it has. Never worried about the so called ITK's saying otherwise. That is not what the family were saying to me. Adam has a good agent who is looking after him the right way and has a fantastic family who he listens to. Now very important that we get promotion so that Adam can demonstrate his talent on a higher stage.
  7. Someone who did not understand cricket. It is a 5 day game. there are five tests. It was recognised by those who knew a bit about cricket that we had the stronger bolwing line up and that if our batsmen came into form we would likely retain the Ashes. Some even said we would win 3-1 Alpine, engage a little later.........
  8. Oldham are at home to Swindon on Saturday in L1 so no rest for them

  10. I was never an underwriter and I am not going to comment on cost. I have seen plenty of evidence that 17-20 age group for male drivers is a high risk due to accident frequency in that group. I find it hard to accept the high cost of insurance for this age group but the alternative is to smooth it out meaning older low risk drivers will have to pay higher premiums. That is not fair either, is it? It you try to withhold material facts, in particular that the main driver is someone other that the real main driver to try to get cheaper insurance, that is fraud. You will be found out. It may not be until an accident has occurred but that will mean voidance of the Insurance and a possible criminal record, as well as being responsible for any accident costs. As a parent it is not worth ruining a sons future just to try to save money. I was a Personal Injury Compensation Manager until my retirement 7 years ago. I personally handled 135 case workload with a value of £35m. The team country wide handled claims worth £2.2 billion. All personal injury with a minimum value of £125,000 (the local departments handled claims up to that level) That was 7 years ago and will give some idea of why motor costs are so high

  12. And even with that Bern, we are still second in the table. I think any signings will be to get us off and running next year in the Championship. I accept we have a long way to go yet but a good work in progress
  13. He has not really been given a chance so I don't know. the fact he cannot shift Davis suggests he is not good enough but I have nothing to substantiate that.
  14. Why is no one talking about a goalkeeper? We need someone who can dominate the box and come for crosses. That is a real defensive weakness for us at present. Davis is a good club captain and a very respected link between the players and the management. He has helped sort out many issues behind the scene but out on the field he is a weak link. Great shot stopper but being a keeper, even in Div 1, is more than that.
  15. No reason why he should not be around. He signed a loan deal for 5 months which takes him well into January
  16. Opinions of supporters about various players will always differ. Many just walk away from the ground remembering one good move or one bad miss and judge the player accordingly. My daughter came home from her first the match of the season on Saturday as asked what I thought of out Brazilian player. She thought he was rubbish as did supporters around her in the Chapel End. They were clearly basing their comments on his missed goal opportunies I thought he had a good game and was an asset. My opinion was not based on his missed opportunities but the fact he HAD those opportunities by being in the right place. I was aware of his movement off the ball, his work rate, his vision and how he bought other players into the game because I looked at him off the ball as well. Had he scored from his best two opportunities the original post would not have been made. Yet we won 4-1 and he was a big part of that. OK, he is not a world beater if he was he would not be on loan to us. He has come from a different football culture and it takes time to adjust. He is beginning to show that adjustment and I hope we can either extend his loan until the end of the season or sign him now.
  17. Spot on Steve.
  18. I am glad to see a few on here recognise that Guly had a decent game. He moved about, chased and although he failed to score, oneheader in particular, he was in the right place at the right time more than once. Goals will come. Hope we hold on to him. Chaplow is like a Jack Russell, always on the go,biting at the legs of the opposition. Good goal as well. Trust we will sign him up. Lambert looked back to his old self and great to see him score from open play. Chamberlain had a good game as well bearing in mind he is still a youngster. Must keep him Lallana had one of those busy games but was not likely to score today. It was one of those days but again he was creating the chances and on another day he would have had at least two. First 20 minutes, particularly after they scored I had that sinking feeling. Suddenly Lambert equalizes and the energy in the team stepped up a few gears. We never really looked back after that. For me, man of the match was Jaidi. Never missed a header and a great headed goal. Closely followed by Lambert for being back to his old self. Looking forward to Saturday now.
  19. Read my reply to Hypo who has got it totally wrong. I do not get any personal information like that. It was merely a quote that Bristol Rovers were poor, we were average and should have scored 8.
  20. Are you always such a nit. Adam's father told me that we were not outstanding against Bristol Rovers. We were average against a very poor side on the day. We should have scored 8. I did not get any inside information on what went on with Pardew. The players do not know and that includes all players. I get nothing of interest other than the players are happy with Adkins and there is a good atmosphere about the training and dressing room.
  21. That is not what I am hearing. The players are happy with Adkins
  22. There is a very depressed transfer market out there at present (and not because of the window being shut in case someone posts that) January is a difficult time to get the right sort of player we need. I cannot see a good player of Championship quality wanting to take a chance on us. I really believe that all we will get is decent cover players so that will be few. We need to show that we are not just a progressive "talking" club. We need to demonstrate the same by results. Catch 22? Seems that way. I hope I am wrong but all we will get in January are fringe players wanting away because their Manager does not think they are good enough. However, if they are like Chaplow, that is not all bad. July-August is when we will have a better chance of the right player, providing we are in the Championship! All my opinion, of course.
  23. I think it unlikely Lallana will go in January. First there has not been a sniff of any real transfer activity only paper guessing. Secondly Lallana is desparate to play every week. He could do that for a Championship club but not many will be able to beat what Saints will be able to afford in wages. Thirdly because he knows that his development is not complete and he will not want to be a bench warmer in the Premier. Chamberlain will not go. Again he knows he is only at the begining of his development and games in Div 1 is better that in a Premier youth/development set up. He has a good set of advisors who know he is better here for the present. Schneiderlin - no loss in my opinion. He is part of the problem, not the solution.
  24. There are those, including me, who felt Pardew was an OK Manager but not good enough to take the business plan far enough. He is an old fashioned Manager who did not believe in width. There are those who felt he was good enough and were disappointed with his sacking. They felt he was the Manager for us long term. The pro Pardew will be against Adkins and his start. The anti Pardew will give Adkins a bit more time. There is better width but we still lack pace and a crab like central midfield. That is something Adkins needs to address in the window. I was pleased with Adkins appointment. I am reserving judgement if it was the right one. I know Lallana challenged Cortese over Pardew's sacking (before Adkins was appointed) I also know Lallana is happy with Adkins, the spirit in "the changing room" is great and that is not just down to Adkins and his team but Kelvin Davis as club captain as well. He has massive respect from the players. Saturdays result was a big blow but we are still in the game, we CAN get promotion this season but the team needs to up its performance level. Adkins will be judged on that in the next few games I m sure
  25. Same injury he has been carrying all season
