  1. Even considering that Lowe might have thought that Poortvliet and Wotte were skilled in their jobs (he had been considering appointing them years ago), what I cannot understand is how Lowe could have had no inkling that the two disparate characters might not work harmoniously together. Surely he must have seen the two together at some time!
  2. Only Lowe could bring in two diametrically different, squabbling personalities to oversee his 'experiment'. Typical of his lack of understanding of people and football. How our football suffered for years under his arrogant meddling. Thank goodness we have moved on.
  3. Who he? (Wikipedia has never heard of him ffs.) he looks promising here. How tall is he, btw?
  4. Why would anyone sign for Premiership wannabees when they could play for an upwardly mobile bottom-of-the table league 1 club?
  5. That would be a brilliant move, There was speculation a couple of seasons ago that Saints might go for him then. A top scorer at this level, though has found it tougher in the CCC.
  6. It will be a good measure of how we compare now with a Prem club that we beat last year. Hopefully they'll be overconfident again.
  7. Pilchards at Seaworld? Sounds fishy to me.
  8. Don't belittle the little. Gillett may not be the tallest (5'5" actually) but he is good at out-jumping others and headers. And he doesn't give up.
  9. Perry for Lancashire Gillett for Wotton Ras for Pato
  10. One for TDD: Gillingham defeat Plymouth 2-1. Paul Sturrock has now won one of nine League Cup matches as a manager.
  11. I wonder who is paying his solicitors bills now? WH Ireland?
  12. But this is about looking for a tough CM to beef up our delicate midfield.

    3 down...

We have the striker now in Lambert. Let's hope Jaidi signs up eventually. So we need a tough CM stopper with the vision to work alongside Spider's playmaking. We also need two fast wingers. Lovely jubbly.
  14. I reckon the best goal of the season will be by someone unexpected. So the least likely has got to be Wotton or Kelvin on 93 minutes. As Wotton will probably be replaced by a new signing it has to be Kelvin. You read it here first!
  15. Yep, witnessed by the PC who told him to hide there. But how did the Bill know the bush was a good hiding place? Cos that's where he goes when there's bovver on Sats.
  16. My goal of this season so far is by Paterson.
  17. Lambert is not noted for his pace, so he needs to be paired with someone nippy who can place an accurate pass. Paterson or failing that, Fish therefore. A fit Holmes would be useful too. Who else has any speed? Saga and Rasiak are too slow, and anyway they are yesterday's men now.

    Lambert

It does now mean that negotiations to sign other players are going to be tougher, with clubs raising their price. Who cares. The boot is on the other foot at last.
  19. Lambert doesn't consider pace to be one of his strengths. So don't big him up to become disappointed in every aspect of his play.
  20. We lost Channon too to Man City at the height of his powers. Dean Richards to Spurs which made us hate Spurs.
  21. I would start with Pato in preference to Ras and Saga, but it would be interesting to see Lambert play with all three at different times, though that wouldn't be good tactics.
  22. In terms of attendances, last season against Bristol City we certainly were: Southampton 13,257(min) 27,228 (max) 17,866(av) 410,936(total) Bristol City 15,304(min) 18,456(max) 16,816(av) 386,780(total) Bristol Rovers 5,870(min) 10,293(max) 7,170 (av) 164,923(total) But Bristol's total attendances for both teams were 551,703. Just as well Bristol is divided by two clubs. http://www.emfootball.co.uk/attend.html
  23. Population of Southampton:c228,600 Population of Bristol:c416,400 Bristol is nearly twice the size of Southampton But we have bigger boats!
