Some of our supporters who travel long distances to watch matches offer such crap support! If I could have been bothered to go to Tranmere I would've done so much better!

Alan Johnson quits frontline politics
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Before elections the opposition claim that the current situation is **** (even if it isn't) and so it follows that when they get in they must change it. Sad aspect of our adversarial politics, no common ground or stability. -
you muppet, what truth? Your contention is that Hoddle would have saved us from relegation and that some fans are to blame for him not being reappointed and therefore are to blame for relegation. Ignoring the many holes in your obsession, unless you can either invent a time machine or find a parrallel world 7 or so years behind ours I'd venture to suggest that the "truth" you seek will never emerge.

Saints v Manchester United scarves
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints
IMO these types of scarves just mark how far we've fallen as a club. Were there such scarves being sold when we played Man U when we were in the Premiership? It's great that we've got a decent cup-tie to look forward to but commemorating playing Man U with special merchandise is way OTT and makes us look a small time club. -
The Old House is supposed to be nice.

Oh FFS, give it a break. your hoddle obsession is beyond boring let alone completely pathetic.

Thanks for that Einstein I didn't realise that duty got applied to petrol prices. Wow, every time you post you set new standards in stupidity. Are you really suggesting that the Iraq War made oil cheaper? seriously? You know there is this thing called the Internet and it lets you reasearch all sorts of topics really quickly. I've just had a quick look which, shock horror!, tells a different story. The Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz estimate the the Iraq War inflated oil prices by an average of $10 per barrel http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/03/AR2010090302200.html Have a look and see if you can find anything credible that show oil prices went down as a result of the Iraq War.

No what I'm actually saying is that the West cannot legitimately use Saddam murdering 'his own people' as the reason for invasion. It defies all logic set against the West's actual reactions at the time of the most well known instances of mass muder committed by him. When he gassed the Kurds (with munitions supplied by the West) we did nothing. When he invaded Kuwait we kicked him back out but let it him stay in power. When he put down the revolt by the Marsh Arabs we enforced a no-fly-zone but let him stay in power. Likewise the argument we went to protect other countries in the region is equally stupid. Even after invading Kuwait we still let him stay in power. Most people saw through the lies peddled by the Neo-Cons, in fact part of the US military's justification for their invasion strategy came from their view that Saddam's war machine was puny. Robin Cook put it much better: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/2859431.stm

I hope you didn't think that from the point of view of a consumer! Oil has been really cheap since the Iraq War hasn't it....
-
lol. if you really think we did this as some altruistic fight against evil you are a simpleton. "killing his own people..." - aside from the pedantic view that they weren't his own people, Saddam was a Sunni and those he murdered were overwhelmingly Shias and Kurds, this doesn't stack up in any way as an explanation as to why Gulf War 2 started. When he gassed the Kurds in the 80s the West did nothing, hell we even supplied weapons! When he put down the Marsh Arabs the West merely enforced a no fly zone having recently decided not to take him out even though his army was in tatters. "threatning surrounding countrys with his posturing" - any country bordering Iran would be giving it large. Look at the rhetoric coming from the USA at Iran and they're 1000s of miles away.

Search and Rescue about to be privatised
anothersaintinsouthsea replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Lounge
Or you could compare it to a train network in another country which is state owned? Deutsche Bahn perhaps? I think any user of both netwroks would readily conculde that the German railways are quicker, cheaper and more reliable. I'd wager that the any improvement in train services in this country are inextricably linked to levels of consistent investment. The advantage held by the German railway is that there is no leakage in profit. -

a big "if". Struggling to think of many examples where the subsequent privatised monopoly have been effectively regulated and monitored. -

Thinks that is the way to do it.

Do some people really want Blackpool to be relegated just because Holloway threw his rattle out of the pram? I think it is great that a small club that have spent little can get promoted to the top flight and then hold their own. Their approach has been reallly refreshing, certainly an improvement on some of the other dross in the lower half e.g. Blackburn and Wigan.

I can say with some certainty that that won't happen
