  1. Ha, trust you to miss out what Bruce Parry (the documentary maker) was really getting at. The reason the Greenlanders needed jobs rather that hunting was because climate change and drastically reduced quotas (resulting from concerns around conservation) meant that making a good living from hunting was no longer possible. It was also noted that Greenland now had the highest suicide rate in the world (whereas a few decades ago it was one of the lowest) and real social problems caused by alcoholism. Also capitalism at work? Also what poor people in the third world want?
  2. No, people are just taking the **** out of the notion that we should feel sorry for a millionaire footballer.
  3. As always with these situations, anyone who really wants a tickets will get one. And as always Dune employs dunce like logic and misses the point. Cortese has already rewarded loyal followers with relatively cheap tickets for the early rounds of the cup against unattractive opposition. Loyal supporters will have been further rewarded by the fact they have the opportunity to watch the top team in the country in the 4th round of cup. Cortese is only answerable to Saints fans. Your point would only hold any water if the match against the Shrews was away and Cortese demanded low prices or if the game against Man U was away and Cortese was demanding top prices.
  4. Our crowds in the past few years both in the league and the cup show that we have a bigger fanbase than we get credit for.
  5. Cotterill - what a tit. Doing your homework on a referee and then adapting your behaviour to get the best deal out a referee is simply a basic of professional sports. It is amazing that you can be relatively successful (in terms of getting a series of decent manager/coaching posts) with such an amatuer approach.
  6. Visited that site a few times, they really are a desperately sad bunch. You even get a few of them calling us "scummers" as though we're their local rivals. Bless.
  7. Pretty pathetic, the "champions league/premiership/championship you're having a laugh" has been sung all over the countries for years now. We'd have sung it to any team above us if we were beating them in the cup.
  8. Definitely do not go easy on them!
  9. Think you're on to something, after all Dorset is very much like Barking except Dorset is more white.
  10. Is Corp around to provide an update on the new ground, it should be taking shape now?
  11. Blimey, my nipper is nearly 3 and hadn't even considered taking him yet! How did he react when people shouted at the ref or when a goal was scored?
  12. To be fair, his Dad did refuse to take Alex to Pompey even though he worked there because he knew what was best for the lad.
  13. I heard something about their club shop being cash only because of "problems with the chip & pin terminals".....
  14. I remember that. The fact that South of Southampton is mostly Sea probably has something to do with it.
  15. Wouldn't be a surprise to me, from what I've heard he is in a bit of bother.
  16. Can someone tell me why some consider Austin to be of bad character? Is it just because he celebrates a few of his goals in front of opposition supporters? I couldn't give a ****....
  17. Wasn't he 'up north' for the weekend?
  18. Not entirely sure with some of this. Theo was playing up front for us, was getting plenty of game time and his confidence was very high. There will have been plenty of positives for Theo in joining Arsenal but his confidence was knocked big time and this has probably taken the edge off some of the benefits of being in the Arsenal set-up. There is no way of knowing if a Saints Theo would be a better or worse player that an Arsenal Theo but it isn't unreasonable to suggest that he would have developed very well by staying a Saint for a year of two more, playing more regularly and playing up-front. Having said that I don't blame him at all for leaving when he did, I'd have done exactly the same.
  19. Totally. Personally I couldn't give a **** if Brighton don't like us, although it is quite funny. I remember a few posters on the NSC forum attempting to ****-take that we didn't fill SMS after the match earlier this season - it was pointed out that 25k on a weeknight in League 1 is actually pretty good and is higher than the capacity of their new ground. Idiots.
  20. says the man that thinks Tony Blair was a socialist.
  21. was that aimed at DellDays?
  22. Unfortunately not the case, all of the ice around here melted yesterday. Like the bit where it says Mandaric thought that "Premier League Pompey needed Premier League offices" lol they're on an industrial estate FFS
  23. Surely it should refer to "chip & pin" not "credit card signer"?! Other yank phrase you don't hear Brits saying often "bunch of stuff"
  24. do you understand that climate and weather are not the same?
  25. dune advocating Government intervention again. Bloody commie.
