West ****in Ham! After all that! Suppose the Super Agent did his job in terms of cash, but what about the trophies, glory and the medals? You've been very badly advised Mr Fonte...

Saints 1 Norwich 0 - For Once We Score A Late Winner!
Spoonman replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Listened on Solent, didn't sound too hectic. McQueen sounded like the MOTM, Wonder if you could play him and Bertrand in the same eleven. Will need to crank up several gears to get anything against the gooners, but stranger things have happened. -
Lovely Jubbly.. *rubs hands with gusto *

Chris Nicholl looks back at last LC Semi- Pretty Sad Article
Spoonman replied to once_bitterne's topic in The Saints
He was a proper centre half. They don't make em like that any more. A gent also, met him the once many years back -
Strange that a lot of the usual melts are conspicuous by their absence here tonight.

That's more like it Saints! Outstanding defending, nice one touch passing and swift counter attacking. Should've been at least a two goal cushion. But, in all fairness, how **** was that ref? Summed it up perfectly at the end when Longy was hauled down and he gives the free to them, bizarre like...

VVD short term, followed by Davo / Romeu
-
Sad day, he's been great for us, as Saints have been for him. Would he have his medal if he stayed with Palace all those years ago? I doubt it. Would have loved to see him finish his days at SMS, but we move on.. Don't want to judge the bloke too much, but it's been evident since the summer that something was amiss. Please don't flog him to the scousers, China will do nicely. Ta for the memories Jose.

Oh... Ok then, I stand corrected and will stand in the corner for my incredible childishness.

Fonte knows full well how Lovren is regarded by Saints fans, so for him to come out publicly with all this backslapping ("my brother"..FFS) suggests/confirms that he's trying to engineer a move. Shame it's ending like this, ta for the memories.

Puel so far, not a good fit for saints? or the man to take us forward?
Spoonman replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Given the circumstances Puel has done ok. The lack of goals is of course disappointing but, as others have said, some of the glaring misses have been criminal, you can't blame him for that. He's made us hard to break down, and has reopened the path to the first team for the young lads. Need to look at the longer term. I'll take a step back in order to take two steps forward etc. We've had a ridiculous amount of managers over the past twenty odd years, its time for stability, and for me he's doing alright so far. -
RIP. Way too much young. Condolences to family and friends.

A much needed 3 pts, well chuffed for young Josh Sims, I remember him scoring for england youths in his debut some years ago and thinking this lad is a bit special, his performance today was a proper two fingers to Mr Koeman. Agree we should've won by more but I'll take the win!

Saw a great quote tonight: this weekend 6 years ago we were preparing to meet Dagenham & Redbridge in L1, while Inter were holders of Serie A and Champions League ....
-
Must be said that Inter side are a shower of niggly, dirty, cheating basstards. They deserve nothing from this euro campaign apart from the wrath of their knobhead fans.
-
F*ck me that was good! After 30 odd years as a Saints fan dunno if I ever thought I'd see a victory against the likes of Inter. And not just a win, we played them off the park for the second time in a fortnight. JWP MOTM for me.
-
Great point. Romeu got my MOTM, immense. Continuing to be more and more impressed with Redmond, the boy's gonna be a bit special!

Will be stuck in Riga airport for this, ffs. Praying can catch dodgy stream on iPad. Reckon we'll get something out of it, Longy to break his duck...
-
That could have been double figures, we were quality today particularly in the second half. Pull continues to impress, now for Inter & Man City!
-
Things are starting to click. We haven't played badly this season, the return of 2 pts from the initial 4 games was not reflective of the performances. Lot of positives today. Romeu MOTM for me, looked very solid and used the ball well. Davis, Tadic, Bertrand, all excellent, Jose & Vvd very comfortable all day. Redmond will have nightmares about that miss, but he is showing signs of becoming a very decent footballer. Overall, We defended well, good pressing and some sweet movement & passing, good to watch. And Boufal still to come in

The Secret Footballer claims saints academy is critisised inside football
Spoonman replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
This. Smell of fish off Kitson. -
Glad to see Austin get a start. 2-0 Saints

I remember that. Wasn't Robbo sporting the classic bubble perm? Must-have do for any aspirational player at the time...
