oxfordshire_saint Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 Is was a full-strength side we put out there last year. I can imagine it'd be a mixture, much like the Salisbury game.
eelpie Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 They beat Brentford 2-1, who are currently 'top' of league 1 while we are statistically bottom. So this is a more realistic pre-season match than others, in fact. I hope we do not under-estimate them.

SFC Forever Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 Hopefully we will give a few different players a game along with some from Saturday. QPR should then be a final runout for the team AP wants to play against Millwall.
skintsaint Posted 26 July, 2009 Share Posted 26 July, 2009 I reckon this is a reserve fixture, but with a few players who will need to convince AP they have a part to play next season plus maybe a trialist or two? I think the QPR game is going to give a better idea of the first XI for next season (apart from signings)

I think the QPR game is going to give a better idea of the first XI for next season (apart from signings) I've got a feeling it'll be largely a 'first team' turn out. We're in need of match fitness / awareness and the fact that this fixture would seem to have been arranged at short notice since Pardew's arrival suggests to me that he wants to see his first choice in action as much as possible in the short time he has to instill his ethos in the players. I could be completely wrong of course! Anyway, will be popping along to find out. Will post pictures of anyone doing a C3PO impression tomorrow...(assuming I survive the trek to and from the station of course... )

Farnborough FC Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Hi guys, Here is some information for you ahead of the friendly between Boro and yourselves tonight Prices are £7 for adults, £5 for concessions, and just £1 for under 16s. The gates at Cherrywood Road are open from 5.30pm, with access to the main 'Dugout' bar open to all. The Dugout is open all day, serving food and drinks. If you want to watch the game in a little bit more style and comfort, entrance to our Platinum Lounge is £20. The Platinum Lounge is open from 5pm and this entitles you a two-course meal prior to the game, access to the Platinum Lounge bar before, during and after the game, as well as prime seats in the middle of the main stand. Dress code is collar and tie. There are limted numbers for the Platinum Lounge, so if you are interested then drop me an email as soon as possible. There is limited parking in the club car park, so arrive early to ensure a space, although the nearby Farnborough 6th Form College, five minutes walk from the ground, will also be open for parking if required. It would be great to see as many of you as possible at Cherrywood Road, and if you haven't been to the ground for a while I'm sure you will be impressed with it's transformation over the last two seasons. Feel free to drop me an email if you need any more information, or check out our website http://www.farnboroughfc.co.uk Regards Chris Harris Press & Communications Officer Farnborough FC chris.harris@farnboroughfc.co.uk

SuperMikey Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Anyone got any team news for tonight? FarnboroughFC, what sort of side are you going to be putting out too? I'm at the college just up the road so this is your chance to persuade me to leave this sorry lot and support you! It doesn't say Saints XI on the site, so hopefully we'll see quite a few first teamers running out there. For those worried about the walk, it's not that long really, about 20 minutes at most. Junior Mullet Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Good to see White in the squad - from what I've seen of him he looks a good player but has had a dreadful time with injuries. I would agree with that - one of the more naturally gifted players to come through our ranks in recent years but those injuries really haven't helped. He seems a determined little bugger though, so hopefully he will take his chance to impress when he can.

saintbletch Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Who is Ryan Tafazolli, I see he's in the squad tonight? He's a very tall CB who I've seen a couple of times at youth/reserve level. Very strong, composed and a good touch. Looked very slow though otherwise I think he'd be giving Lancashire a run for his money for the bench CB spot. saintbletch Posted 27 July, 2009 Share Posted 27 July, 2009 Yup...exclusive updates over on the match update thread now I checked for a match day thread seconds before I look at this thread! You mean you can monitor two threads at a time and start a "Match updates" thread on a mobile quicker than I can reply to you on a PC. Impressed. I'll check out the other thread.
