Bridge Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 Does anyone know what the policing will be like for the Millwall game this Saturday? I would like to go along but can not risk taking my eight year son and subjecting him to seeing any aggro from the Millwall lot . I remember years ago when I lived near London and went to a QPR vs Millwall game. Millwall sh-t the life out of me as they went about ripping up seats and fighting with tame QPR supporters. Policing with horses and dogs did not stop them.
J Bizzle Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 We are both category C support, so there will be OB all over the show. If you come up from teh chapel end and stay away from their support, you'll be fine anyway.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 I'm actually starting to get quite annoyed at people going on about playing Millwall being so much more dangerous than any other team. When i was at St Mary's yesterday one man asked for a seat in the northam but not near the away fans. Bloody ridiculous. It's not the 1980s. Despite what the tabloids/Daily Mail may have you think it's just like any other football game. Unless you go looking for trouble you're not going to find it. Alain Perrin Posted 4 August, 2009 Share Posted 4 August, 2009 In the years I have supported Saints, the proportion of dickheads in our fan base has increased. Not sure if that is me becoming an old codger, or whether it is reality. What I do know is that on here there is sometimes defense of the indefensible (smashing up a old boy's greenhouse in WBA, smashing up a pub in Bristol etc. etc.). So we've been categorised 'C', for c***s, because that's what some of fans are.

Have to agree, with have a large amount of c***s these days, the number of which seems to have grown particularly fast over the past two or three seasons. Therefore the category C is arguably justified. Nevertheless, in response to the original post, there is very very little chance of anyone who is not looking for trouble to run into any, whether we are playing Milwall or anyone else. We did have a large number of idiots in the 70's, can particularly remember trouble at Bristol Rovers in 1977 ( FA Cup match ) , Charity Shield v Liverpool and most home games at the Milton Rd end with a pre match punch up being commonplace. Don't remember anywhere near as many problems throughout the 80's, 90's and the 00's to date though maybe that's just the perception I have formed. Either way we clearly don't need these morons. Magaluf is ****. If you're going to go away don't be a tight bastard. PAy the money and go to Beefa. Having the choice of going to Magaluf with my mates or Ibiza on my own, I know I'd rather pick the first option. Besides, I had a well good time so what does it matter. And back on topic, I doubt on Saturday there will be massive problems, not with the massive police presence there will be. Take your son Bridge, just avoid the Northam for this one perhaps. Stayed at the TRH Palmanova, pretty good hotel...Maga was good but i marginally preferred Malia, would never pay Ibiza money myself 60 euros to get into a club and then 10 euros for a bottle of beer/alcopop....f**k that for a laugh... Usually the OB have things in order and are well prepared so i don't expect any problems for fans who don't go looking for it...

Paul Chuckle Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 I went to Millwall in 2003 FA Cup 4th Round Replay and wasn't any more worried or intimidated than any other ground i have been to. Millwall aren't the fans they have the rep for any more as all of the ones causing trouble have now been banned. Millwall went to an FA Cup Final in 2004 and i don't recall any trouble on the day of any real note? I'm not worried at all on Saturday, why even think about trouble? Lets just enjoy the new era at St Marys

I think you'll find that Category C refers to a group of supporters within a club's following, rather than the whole club. The hooligan element of a club's supporters are known as Category C.
