Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 As it says really. If the deal is dead and no appeal can/will be made, who will we go for now. Chez Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 I mentioned him on the HCDAJFU a few weeks ago. Josh Thompson, 18 years old and 6"4 and interesting Premiership clubs. They unlike us won't be able to offer first team football. This is exactly the sort of player we should be busting a gut to sign IMO. £250,000 is the rumoured price. Miltonaggro Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 Josh Thompson for anything south of £500K would be a very good call indeed, Josh Thompson and a work permit for Jaidi would give us an awesome central defence. The best we might hope for is a loan after Sir Alex or whoever has signed him. If we were serious about buying the best emerging talent then I'm sure we could pay him the sort of wage that migth shift him. The key though is to pay the likes of Thompson the same wage as someoen coming down the ladder like Jardi. That is a very brave move but if you buy the right talent you will get the results. I keep coming back to Boyd signing for Perborough, he was a record transfer from the non leagues and therefore a considerable gamble. That vision Ferguie had has helped get the posh a double promotion. If we go that route and compliment it by one or two best in your own league signings like Chris Taylor at Oldham and pretty quickly we will find ourselves moving in the right direction. Don't get me wrong I am not against signings CCC cast offs like Jardi and Murty, but there is nmore than enough emerging talent in the lower leagues and despite going down a league I still don't see us tapping into this. Completely agree, though I guess part of the problem has been the sorry state of the scouting network. In the absence of decent infrastructure, we're just that much more dependent on established players since you know what you're getting and this keeps the risk down, though we're unlikely to discover any gems. Still, without that infrastructure, its more likely that a gamble will be ill-informed and so fail - as we consistently showed last year. Hopefully things will change with murdoch. Miltonaggro Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 Interesting that JPS is not apparently on the radar, and we must assume that AP does not fancy him. This is a shame, as the guy offers height and commitment, and would be brilliant cover at centre back for this league...
Smirking_Saint Posted 6 August, 2009 Share Posted 6 August, 2009 Well, i am fit finally (by fit i mean injury free) could half run, run out of puff and then begin to jog again for a good 45 minutes.
