Unacceptable

With better support, patience, belief and encouragement from you fantastic fans. New comfortably wealthy ownership, half a new team of decent players, fabulous facilities and home advantage a 1-1 with Brentford is unforgivable...yes I realise the Bees maybe good enough to get the odd result, but bare with me.

It is not acceptable after 'Awwy fuct around, spent all our money and got us relegated - then we ponced about in Div II before going totally broke and being relegated - then scraping a draw at home befrore being porked on the road twice despite incredible support and following...yes we managed to scrape a win .v. a fourth division team, some of you play for Sunday sides that could give Northampton a game FFS

A line has to be drawn in the sand TODAY, enough is enough!! No more excuses, only an odd slip up will be tolerated. For Christ sake we're better supported than pompers, Wigin (sp) and as well followed as Blackburn, Hull, Wolves, Burnley and Brum. You guys are truly the most Prem of all support, listening to you on the internet today if UEFA qualification was done on support, you'd be challenging for a Champion's league spot.

The under-achievement has to stop now, the team/club HAVE to match their support!!

Sorry rant over, just that Southampton Football Club's best and most deserving asset is it's diehard fans.

Not sure why you suggest that Hypo considering you allege an administrator told you we apparently had similar IP addresses and my subsequent question is that not breaking some sort of data protection or not exactly reassuring when the admin have access to personal email addresses as a minimum. Anyway for the record the answer is obviously no.

Sorry guys, late night last night - it's morning here.

Just that I can hear 19,000 odd of you giving great support and the team screwing up - like it has for 5 years.

It has to stop - No more excuses or sub-standard showings.

To be fair Tim the team didn't screw up. Their is room for improvement with our wide players and Lalllana in particular but we also still have Mclaggon to come back in who is a very bright prospect.

OUr back 4 looked good but for one defensive lapse that they were made to pay and we should have been 3-1 up at half time. Not only that Pardew has I think made a very eloquent and reassuring assessment of our situation and provided we accept mid table safety is our aim this season in readiness for an assualt on the automatic promotion places next season there was much to enjoy today and many positives. Hearing Pardew clearly identify the weaknes and hold the individuals concerned to account and give them the challenge of upping their game it feels pretty good to be a fan tonight if I am honest and certainly not downbeat, very positive in fact.

BTW I would estimate that 3,000 of that 19,000 were a very strong Brentford contingent so given we have 11,300 ST holders the support perhaps wasn't as great as it could have been.

hi Tim

had a good chat to Steve Jewitt and Pete Wilson at half time we all agree that things are slowly getting better and the good times will be back , we just need to be patient and let AP do his job, we are getting there

Jewitt and Wils FFS you're just a Dean Prince or Philly Joyce short of the Three Musketeers there Mike.

Well, both are also accomplished players so I'll take heart from that and give them an 'ello from 'Timmy' next time you see them mate.

Suggest you think too, with all due respect that was fu¢king Brentford at home and not Villa away - which at 1-1 would be a good performance.

Sorry mate - if you think today's performance was "pretty good" either your standards have slipped or you are far too easily satisfied.

If we settle for this every week then we are truly in for a grim season. No offence.

Well, it was a 5.5/10 performance from a 2/10 at Swindon. Still won't keep us up though. AP is buying well which gives me hope - Harding, Trotman were 8/10 for me and Hammond was nice and tidy and we missed Murty, James and Thomson were so bad it was untrue. AP now needs to locate two wingers with pace and a striker with pace asap and we might turn the corner. Get the academy lads out on loan and that includes Lallana and replace them with adults.

With respect.

I was at the game today,so entitled to comment on the game.

I have been to every home and most away games in the last few seasons(and endured some crap performances along the way),and the team is heading in the right direction IMO.

It might only be f***ing Brentford, but a lot of people think they are one of the better teams in this league.

You have to put things in perspective.

Silly season is back but I am left thinking about how close we were to beating Burnley at the end of last season. Had we won and the next game done the same we could have been relegated through the points deductions leaving us a level playing field. Burnley beating Utd started this line of thought and now I guess I can wait for the ridicule to begin.

I dont think we played that badly when Wotte was in charge.

But now we have an English manager who knows the leagues I was led to believe that we would do better

Fair point, what I'm saying is Brentford are nothing with less than zero resources, no money, horrible support and no future...whereas Saints have bank, you and 20k plus diehard fans that are witnessing football two league lower than their support deserves.

So well done to the little-barely-more-than-pub team Brentford, but we must close crap like that out...especially after taking a second half lead.

Dunc...mustn't forget that even without the 10 point deduction we'd still be second bottom after these first four games.

Exactly. I wouldn't say that is Pardew's fault though. All the remaining problems are from the old players. I really hope we sign at least two more and preferably 3.

Adding to the debate, I'm not happy at our start, but I did expect it.

We had a bunch of kids who were taught to play PL style football - they were never going to hack it in this league from the off.

We played two of the 'more fancied" TEAMS in the league.

We had players who probably had never seen SMS before yesterday on the pitch

We played a team still in the bubble of promotion, they ALL punch above their weight for a while - heck, how many games did we used to lose at the Dell against newly promoted sides? Burnley this year anyone?

So, no not happy, yes it needs to be turned around REALLY quickly, yes I think it\s quite clear AP understands this and has told us so, yes I do think it will turn around, and finally, no I never believed for one minute we would get to a playoff place and nothing I have heard so far changes that.

But then AP & NC & ML all but told us that when they bought the club, so why the total panic?

Serious question now. Why breakdown the figures of support into ST/NonST holders? Surely all supporters who attend are valued?

Now, if we are getting really pedantic, what about any ST holders who didn't attend? Surely their non attendance (despite the obvious financial support) is not as great as it could have been?

We're all supporters just with differing levels of ability (for whatever reasons) to attend.

They brought loads yesterday and were louder than Saints for pretty much the whole game.

That's all well and good - in FACT great for Saints 3,000-2,000 or whatever at about 25 quid a pop FOR SOUTHAMPTON.

At home they struggle to get 7k and last season (and historically) they get barely 5,000 so they have some of the worst support in English football and (despite their occassional over-achieving) should be dispatched easily by the likes of us.

I agree, but I think we are in the minority.

I was in the Chapel after and the main buzz of the chat around me was what we are saying - an improvement and an upbeat feeling, tempered with a bit of frustration and a sense of realism. Onwards and upwards.

Keep the faith - COYR
