Thedelldays Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 Saints shouldn’t beat Yeovil because of the two clubs’ vastly differing histories, traditions and fanbases. They should win because they have got a far bigger and far better squad, full of players who would walk into Championship teams. agree with this 100% and this should apply with many league games this season..and nearly all home games.. 70's Mike Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 Good article but am not sure how much real dissent about AP there has been, a few stay at home nutters who struggle to accept the reality of where we are and what we have become. Give it to Ron Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 What makes me laugh is the way morons keep bringing up the Swindon game and dismiss all the improvements made since then! Yes we should beat Yeovil.....Man Utd should of beaten us in 76!!! Not everything is straightforward in football.
chrisobee Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 I have seen some ( not that many) messages/posts in various places suggesting Pardew should go. I do believe anyone who thinks that should be certified! Very good article though I suspect it's what most reasonable supporters would write themselves. alpine_saint Posted 16 September, 2009 Share Posted 16 September, 2009 Its probably alpine having a moan as usual:) I havent suggested he leave or be fired at all. I have however suggested some of the post-match comments have a banal Burley-esque ring about them, and that maybe team personnel changes havent gone far enough. I do not rate a couple of the players who seem to be amongst the first names on the team sheet. I also think his substitution strategy against Charlton was utter sh*te. I still think he can do the business for us, but that a real reflection of how the season will pan out will come this Saturday. It's a real shame about this site at the moment (and as it was last season at the start of the Dutch Golden Age) that a considered opinion gets met with a cacophony of abuse and p*ssing contents about how certain people's opinion is more valid than others as a direct relation of attendance. eurosaint Posted 16 September, 2009 Author Share Posted 16 September, 2009 Those who tend towards criticism at the moment seem to feel that it is better to question decisions and defend their 'right' to do so ! I would contend that it would be better for everyone to show absolute, 100% support for the new regime/players in order to cement a feeling of positivity and togetherness ! If AP and/or any of the players were to read some of the threads on here, I guess that their attitudes and levels of motivation would not improve ! After all that has happened in recent times, surely we can wholeheartedly unite behind the club, without reservation ? Just this once, please..??? Thats fair enough but Alp you do yourself no favours at all with the way you change with the wind. You went to the Birmingham game and I remember your quote " I can go back to Austria knowing we are heading in the right direction" as I echoed those sentiments that night. However no less than 1 week later you had reverted back to the old whingeing whining by forecasting doom and gloom! It will take time to get over the Dutch revolution and the problems that caused right throughout the club.

I cant speak for anyone else, but I reserve the right to call things as I see them. This is a discussion site about SFC - what would you suggest you talk about otherwise ? I find your call faintly disturbing, to be honest. In both matches I attended so far this season, I was 100% right behind the team. But suggesting we stop people criticising performances, because the little luvs cannae take it, is daft. I still feel that the general direction is correct, but I like many others I am sure, am starting to feel an impatience at the inability to shake off the defeat/failure culture at the club. I dont consider it a change of direction, nor changing with the wind. It is simply an update on my thoughts and (indirect) observations.

Jan i supported until xmas. It does not matter who was in charge they have to be given time. As mentioned in that article football has gone crazy due to everyone expecting success. If you don't win a game some people expect them to be fired. How can anyone build a team in that enviroment? Comes a time when people need to look at their recent histories to see the quick fixes do not work. And if they do not work then try something else. We as a team are playing well, just a matter of time before we start beating teams. The problem is the amounts of time we are willing to give is different. and Alps i had not seen you suggest the sports psychologist. I do not think that will make much difference if people are looking for ways to bring them down. They are playing far more confidently then i can remember. On here does not f*cking matter. The results we've been getting do not reflect the improvements that have been made. As for an earlier point Alpine made about Pardew getting his substitutions wrong V Charlton, I wholeheartedly disagree. We spent the last 5 minutes in Charltons half, most of it within 25 yards of their goal. We finished up with a point against the league leaders with a 100% win record - i'd say he got it spot on. On your third point we agree, on your point about poor substitutions at Charlton you are wrong. To take a point off Charlton at home showed how far we have come. The substitutions SHOULD have delivered three points. Mellis WAS hauled over in the box. Jaidi added a touch of class and WE (yes us not them) finished the game camped in their box!!! Agree 100%, Anyone who seriously wants Pardew out are simply out of their minds. THE LAST THING THIS CLUB NEEDS NOW IS YET ANOTHER CHANGE OF MANAGER!!! The fact of the matter is that the pre season games against Eastleigh, Totton, Bournemouth Cheltenham etc were meaningless because the majority of those players who played in those games were either not good enough or not ready for the rough and tumble of League One football. It was obvious to me that a new manager would have to bring in lots of new faces. Effectively our pre season started when we played Millwall and we are now at the stage where we are almost ready. We are simply a month behind all the other teams in League One with the added burden of a 10 point deduction. We will be OK. I would soon expect Saints to put a good run of results together. We will hopefully be out of the bottom 4 by Christmas and in the top half by the end of the season. Next season I believe the fans will have the right to moan if after 7 games we still haven't won a game. At this moment in time we need the fans 100% behind Pardew and the players.
